I agree with the comment above. It is difficult to believe that the majority of BPL revenue comes from Bahamian homes. While homes may make up the majority of the accounts, hotels & businesses use far more power than homes.
Secondly, is BPL being transparent about WHO actually are the main offenders of the bulk of the outstanding bills? Are politically connected people and others who knows how to defraud the system getting away with not paying electricity bills?
The GM is not telling the full story about these BPL bills and who is responsible for the massive amounts that remain unpaid.
Doc Sands is right about the PLP. As a matter of fact, the PLP has done very little since Sept 2021. They've only been finishing off FNM projects that they met in place.
BPL does not account for the losses of its customers (fried electrical equipment) from its POOR service through transmission surges and intermittent cuts in power.
But, the struggling masses must now pay late fees, despite the many hours of NO power during the average monthly cycle.
It is like WSC and Cable, poor service but still having the ability to TAX the bills of its customers. URCA has no heart and no moral authority to speak to the hardships of SOE customers.
This is a serious indictment on the integrity of public officials .......... they can make up bloated declarations and then they can refuse to update their financial records once elected to Parliament with very little consequences from the system.
This is all part of the system of lies and deceit that is used to hoodwink our citizens.
If the Govt agrees to $350 per week minimum wage, at least 40% of the civil service will have get a pay raise .............. Can the Govt afford that, given the dire straits of the national debt, NIB impending collapse, P&P issues, and $2 billion unfunded public pension??????
The private sector will definitely balk at the idea and there will be serious repercussions.
Dont you think that this country has supported illegals and squatters for far too long?????
How much money has these illegals and squatters remitted to their foreign lands over the decades that they have been here??? Many can afford rent etc. Bahamians must do so.
Why should Joe Public feel sorry for these people and their enablers in Govt and the private sector who openly defy the laws of our country by renting them house plots and giving them services against the established legal policies of the country???
Little sympathy will be gotten from the majority of right-thinking Bahamians.

And don't say that Chester is the future ............ Chester is a FNM trophy placed there to taunt Minnis.

This 2023 bye-election campaign is getting more ridiculous by the day.
Firstly, this Bimini Airport was not even on the "priority list"
Secondly, it was just a coincidence that Obie's death sparked this new project.
Thirdly, $80 million on a Bimini airport far exceeds Exuma airport cost. For what reason???
I will bet my last dollar that this project will be DOA after Nov. 22.

That is a non-starter ............ even the Presidents of the great USA campaign for their MPs and Senators, Governors and Mayors.
There is nothing wrong with campaigning BUT should they be using the Treasury to fund their campaign??????
