It is clear that status quo is how both of the two leading parties political elite would prefer to have it. Dissent and democracy is not welcomed at this time.
That says a lot about our Bahamian style of leadership and the Old Guard's mentality towards the rise of GenY and GenZ challenges to their power.
If the U50 political aspirants really want to challenge for leadership they have to be intentional. The Old Guard will never give up power. That is their gravy train and their legacy trophies. They intend to DIE in office. Facts.
The shantytown blight on our country is only exceeded by the corruption in our Government.
Who got that contract to clear the shantytown? How much was the contract? And will the cost be lowered, now that the fire has reduced the volume of debris by 80%?
Will the Govt disclose this information as they should?
Mr. Moore needed to go one step further and STATE what the median income figure is for Bahamians.
If 1% of Bahamians are making 70% of the wealth of the country, it is pretty obvious that most Bahamians are probably making on average between 15-20K per year. This is the reality in the civil service, and probably even worst in the private sector.
Additionally, 85% of every tourist dollar is exported by the investors/vendors and remittances exported by the immigrant population is draining even more FX from the country. This leaves a very SMALL slice of the GDP to be divided among the 150,000 Bahamian workers of the country.
With 75% of Bahamians living on New Providence, it is further obvious why the misery index is over the moon. The social problems of high crime, poor education, ill health, personal debt, overseas migration, and lack of job productivity says it all.
The Bahamas is a paradise for the one percenters and the tourists, but it is hell for the average Bahamian. The political elite and the OECD are in a conspiracy to frustrate and demoralize the general population.
Hendfield is a lawyer. He knows the system. When there are serial criminals who openly convict murders time after time, it is obvious that they are callous and don't fear the courts or the consequences of their actions. In these cases, the system is broken.
Either the system gives them bail and watch them continue to murder (or be murdered) OR provide swift justice for murder and HANG the murderers.
The choice of hanging is not popular with the Privy Council, so our lawmakers (like Hendfield) need to decide HOW to break the cycle of murder in our courts. That is their role. They have to step up and govern for Bahamians, not English lords.

Who knows? The Govt contractor for the demolition job might have set fire to the place to make it easier to clear out the nasty shit in the slum.
Will we ever know why it was burnt out? Do we really care? Idk
There are at least 100 more slums sites to clear out. Keep it going.

The Canadian banks (rbc, bns, fcib) have too much power in this country.
They can do whatever they want to do and the Govt cannot stop them because our politicians have placed their "heads in the lion's mouth".
