This is the stupidest story I have heard in a long time. Is Carl Bethel trying to run a dictatorship? How can you try to FORCE people how to vote. Have y'all MPs been watching Donald Trump too long. When senator McCain chose to vote against something the rest of the Republicans were doing they COLDLY said "who cares, he's dying anyway". But even they didn't threaten jobs. No job should be under threat because of how a member votes. If you get away with this, then whatever nonsense the government wants to do it will proceed unopposed to the detriment of the everyday, average Bahamian person.

In a democratic society people should vote as their conscience decides. Just because you're a member of a particular party doesn't mean you should be a "yes man" to everything the government does. Did it take the youngest member in Bain Town to remind all of you that you work for the people?

This is truly a sad day in politics and an embarrassment. I'm ashamed of you Carl Bethel.

What a terrible Father's Day for these families. We need a smarter approach to crime than what we have now.
This is just so sad. This cycle of crime must be broken!

We all know that politics was in the midst of that awful, ugly barrier being placed in the middle of the road. Now an unfortunate soul has lost their life just trying to get to work. "Speed bumps were taken up"? What does that mean exactly? If the government puts down speed bumps (as is done all over the island) who can just come and take them up without consequence? Let's see now... Dr. Minnis is in charge of the government and he is the area MP, but someone will just come and take up the speed bumps in his area? Something isn't right about this story.

Please just put down the speed bumps and remove that horrible barrier so no other life is lost needlessly.

It is very important not to spread Fake News! Social media should never be the main source of news. The veracity of stories should be confirmed before repeating.

Hopefully this will teach everyone to stop spreading the crap they see on social media. My prayers for the families of this great tragedy.

I would support the police if this was an armed robbery suspect aiming his firearm at the police. However, **18 times**? Something doesn't seem right about this story.

I didn't realize DD was a lawyer because I thought only they *lie* for a living. Is this the same "cannibalism" man? Last time I checked, you made those unwarranted comments stoking panic in the market for no sensible reason. [I still wonder if you and Atlantis had some deal to spew that nonsense. Competition is good. It's not your job to side with a particular hotel]. **You were Minister of Tourism at that time**! Thank goodness Breezes had the wherewithal to set the record straight.

You are so correct. I also find it humorous that the posters here seem to think that hiv/aids only affects a particular 'class' of people. The rich and the poor live with HIV once you have unprotected sex. Additionally, there are people who may NOT be promiscuous but acquire HIV. It only takes one time people! Our youth especially have misconceptions about unprotected sex and what can happen.

Then there's that whole other category of "sweetheartin" people (who bring it into their homes) and abusers who give it to their young victims. This is a complicated issue. Whether it is 1 in 50 or less, it means at least one person that we know has HIV and we don't even realize it. It's a very sobering thought.

I think it's important to have a balanced view to immigration. While I don't agree with illegal immigration, I do believe that the government can do better with detaining those who were born in The Bahamas and applied for citizenship (even though this individual seems to have not applied). There's got to be a better way to handle this.
