Most Bahamian people have eaten turtle at some point and although its now illegal to harvest turtle some out island people will still harvest them of necessity, somewhat like the Inuit who are granted immunity to hunt whales and seals the hunting/harvesting of which is also illegal world wide.
I fully support a total ban where commercial harvesting and sale of turtle meat and shell is concerned and at no time should any sentient animal be bludgeoned to death in the manner this turtle was killed.

Now just what do you think a restaurant owner, a cook and a self employed handyman know about repairing roofs?
They should at least have been fined, as for community service there's plenty of garbage and litter to be picked up in Eight Mile Rock, in all of Grand Bahama for that matter.
