This only happens in third world or rabidly socialist country's where the government is trying to be all things for all people.
This particular instance is just another example of the lack of understanding our government has for Free Market Economies.
Risk or rewards, free market, free choice not free taxpayer money.

We need responsible government, period!! No more party partisanship, no more African style governance.
We need to seriously overhaul overhaul and revamp the educational system to include curriculum, administrators and teachers.
We need a real Freedom of Information Act.
We need an immediate investigation into the theft, disappearance of the millions of dollars of Public Funds spanning successive governments with the perpetrators prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent of the law regardless of political position or persuasion.
Of course for this we need a Judiciary and police force free of political influence and interference.
We need an Attorney Generals Office independent of any political party or organization.
We need complete transparency in all future expenditure of Public Funds and tyhe awarding of All government contracts.
We need a two term limit for the Office of Prime Minister.
We need a new system of politics where our representatives, and more especially the Prime Minister, are chosen by the people they represent and not by bought and paid for Stalwart Counselors.

Sorry Adrian, but the unions in this country have outlived their usefulness. The Bahamas has a wealth of labour laws already which if adhered to and enforced without fear of favor would make the unions redundant. An unbiased Department of Labour, without a former unionist as it head, would also go along way to smoothing labour relationships with the private sector as they view themselves, and not without good reason, as fair game for the labour board. In far to many instances private businesses have to give the golden handshake to bad employees, even those who steal, in order to be rid of them.
The unions as they now exist in the Bahamas are nothing more than a bunch of parasites pretending to "Negotiate" on their members behalf with other peoples assets who's bottom line means nothing to them so long as they get what they consider their share.

And if he does decide to enter politics will his closed shop policy with regards the legal fraternity extend to governance if elected??

Obviously your fellow Bahamians ain tief nothing from you recently, but then, as the only business you up in is PLP business you wouldn't appreciate the wash house owners position.

BAMSI is just a tiny ember in the inferno of our country crashing and burning!

Mr. Ferguson, you wouldn't recognize a negotiation if it bit you on both cheeks of your ass. With the unions it always has been and always will be their way or the highway.
Mr. Ferguson, when you start paying real property tax, business license tax, VAT, building and vehicle maintenance, not to mention NIB, and ridiculous utility bills for third world service, and have a payroll of more than one employee to meet every week, you just might have seen the tip of the iceberg with regard to all the hoops private business in this country have to jump through for the privilege of being allowed to conduct their business.
Neither your unions nor the government have any right to dictate to private businesses or threaten them with imprisonment because you and they have egg on your faces over your Sandals debacle. If you push the envelope far enough you might just see the town get closed down, just not by you.
Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it!

Mr Miller said “with all due respect” he believes that PowerSecure was chosen over Bahamians because the investors are “white and foreign.”

Well look where we got with black Bahamians running it for the last fifty years, only foreign white people would be naive enough to (a) buy a run down bankrupt union run corporation & (b) trust our government to not meddle in the affairs of the new owners.
