This is just what our tourists come here to see, machine gun toting cops and marines on the beach fraternizing with the jet-ski operators. What a scene of tropical paradise.
Yes, the Invisible Road Traffic Division. The only time you ever see a motorcycle cop is when they are outriders for the Emperor, the Lady on the Hill or drinking at Rabbits.
“The poor and downtrodden in the Bahamas – who are again disproportionately disenfranchised by the existing medical and health insurance offerings - are a blatant contradiction to the wealth in this country.'' How disenfranchised do these poor and downtrodden look as they flock through the doors of the web shops Bishop? Can't afford a doctors visit but could afford to spin and buy numbers all week, maybe have 'lil sumptin leave over fa ya collection plate on da weekend an I know ya wouldn't turn it down even if it was dey last dollar. Government need money for da poor, check da church and da web shops bey.
Mr. Plummer, You should be aware that oppression and poverty are not synonymous and the way to eradicate the former is through the ballot box and the latter through education. The problem in this country isn't the constitution, it is the ignorance and apathy of an electorate that allows, and in many cases aids and abets, our elected officials in ignoring both the constitution and and the rule of law. Most if not all of the things you wish for are already enshrined in our our constitution and changing it will not remedy our ignorance, apathy and dependency one whit; it is only when we as a people decide to lift ourselves from the dung heap we have mired ourselves in that things will change for the better.
Birdie, more of our people, including expats, might be more inclined to respect and obey the laws of the country if our leaders set an example by doing the same. Poor black boys from McCullough Corner and Bain Town going to jail for stealing a purse while our government stealing a country and living' large.
When will our government have the political will to remove this half a billion dollar deficit plus Albatross from around the taxpayers neck and call it what it has been from its inception, a poorly run political employment agency and a gaping wound in the public purse. At one time Bahamasair may have served a purpose, however with all of the foreign airlift available today as well as other privately owned Bahamian run airlines which could easily cover those routes without having to compete with a taxpayer subsidized competitor let it go the way of the dodo. New aircraft don't translate into profitability as shown from the latest loss of 8.5 million. Go figure..............
