@Old time Bahamian, you need to re-educate yourself if you truly believe that a few charcoal burners in the pine barrens produced emissions on the scale of the carbon fueled power plants required to power your modern electrical appliances. Reopen da downtown roach-n-rat coach, bring back da rent free booths for we supporters and give dem duty free on all da knockoff garbage dey wan peddle to we tourist dem. Da only genuine straw in da place is da one dey slurping dey soda through, SMT.
It’s a strange world we live in, an individual owes the government 1.4 million and its business as usual, the guy who gets busted for $600 worth of grass goes to jail. You can’t make this stuff up.
Our government, both past and present, have shown absolutely no inclination towards the preservation of our environment, hence the destruction of the mangroves of Bimini, the coming desecration of Lighthouse Point, the Oban debacle and their willingness to allow fruitless oil exploration and exploitation of our waters. If they aren’t begging then they’re trying to apply extortion of consciousness of the developed Nations and if, by some stretch of the imagination, they are actually granted funding how will it be spent and, more importantly the who will oversee it, the government???
