Florida has raked in millions and millions of dollars of fines from Carnival alone as an unabashed big time polluter, but The Bahamas has received absolutely nothing from these corrupt cruise ship companies as they go about polluting our territorial waters and destroying our coral reefs with complete impunity.
Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Disney are well known unremorseful big time polluters of the waters in our part of the world and consider the heavy fines imposed on them by Florida to be just a cost of doing business.
And The Bahamas gets even more pollution than Florida from the cruise-ship industry, but we do not receive revenue from fines or other financial penalties assessed against these gargantuan floating hotels to help remedy all the harm they cause to the environment of our small nation year in and year out.
One can only wonder who among are elected officials and senior bureaucrats are being rewarded for providing these corrupt cruise ship companies with protection from the consequences of all the harm they are causing our country's environment.
