Not too worry, it's all moot anyway. There can be no significant tax reform without there first being a complete overhaul of our government. And we are well beyond too late for that to happen. The foreign lenders will soon enough be reforming our government and devaluing our Bahamian dollar in a way that will benefit them and be shockingly brutal for most Bahamians. The "monster" will indeed eventually be starved, but not by the Bahamian people. This will be done by external forces beyond our control, with all but a very few Bahamians being starved in the process.
Notwithstanding the dismal state of the domestic economy and out-of-control inflation, this seems to be an effort on AML's part to dump Bahamian dollars and take on Bahamian dollar debt in exchange for hard assets before the devaluation of the Bahamian dollar.
Bowe's odious position that we should keep our very unfair regressive tax structure, and simply use social welfare schemes of one kind or another to compensate for its unfairness to lower-income workers and low-profit businesses, speaks volumes about his self-interested reluctance to support the adoption of a much fairer progressive income tax structure.
And Bowe knows full well that the wealthier individuals and more profitable businesses in our country are not paying anywhere near their fair share of the annual taxes and fees being collected by government. Perhaps Bowe is enjoying his sweet new wealthier life style so much so that he too has now forsaken those not nearly as fortunate as him who remain very much abused and in need.
If the very corrupt and dumb-arse Chester the Jester agrees that government will **pay** the buyer enough to buy it, then the buyer will gladly **get paid for buying it** and give him a generous tip for the sweetest of all sweet deals. Catch my drift?
Utterly disgraceful. One full year in office and all this cruel, corrupt and incompetent Davis-led PLP government has done is increase the number of government employees and grow the size of government's payroll. Meanwhile absolutely nothing has been done for the rest of us Bahamians and our businesses except increase our taxes and fees while smothering us to death with all sorts of ridiculous new laws and regulations of one kind or another. This is truly pathetic and cannot be allowed to continue.
And why did neither fat-head Halkitis nor The Tribune's reporter (L. Munnings) provide any specific details of the new riches totalling $8 million bestowed on the 1,300 members of the Bahamas Customs, Immigration and Allied Workers Union? Those totals equate to average new riches for each BCIAW member of $6,154 over the next couple of years. And, like the generous salary increments just given the members of the Bahamas Union of Teachers, these pay increases will only serve to greatly exacerbate the severe rate of inflation in our domestic economy. The fat-cells in Halkitis's fat head have obviously crowded out what few brain-cells he had left.
Let's never forget for one moment that it was the grossly incompetent and tyrannical Minnis who put this colossally costly albatross around the necks of all Bahamian taxpayers by buying it from the Communist Chinese at an inflated price.
And to think a relatively small majority of the few voters who bothered to vote in the Killarney constituency a year ago allowed Tyrant Minnis to keep his seat in the HOA. The Killarney constituents who voted for Tyrant Minnis a year ago should be most ashamed of themselves, especially given that they could have voted for an independent candidate if they hated the very cruel and corrupt Davis so much. Bar none, Tyrant Minnis will always be the worst of the worst politicians to have ever been elected to parliament.
Only the young school children are forced to wear them as part of their early training to be submissive to everything the government tells them to do. They are truly sacrificial lambs for the evil agenda of sinister Darville and his mindless minions at the ministry of health, not to mention cruel Davis.
Carefully look again at his enraged face. That's not the face a teacher should ever portray inside or outside the class room on or near school grounds.
