>In an interview yesterday, loved ones of Johnson relived the moment when a masked man entered their house and *fired a series of shots.*

> Natasha Ferguson, the victim’s mother, told The Tribune in the moments after his shooting, that he called for her three times. However, unaware that he was shot and dying, she believed he was either playing around or having an argument with his girlfriend.

>“He called me, but I thought he and his girlfriend were just playing or rowing,” a tearful Ms Ferguson said. “The only thing that is playing in my head is how I heard him call out for me three times saying ‘mummy, mummy, mummy’.

Why didn't The Tribune's reporter ask the mother how is it she seemed to be able able to hear so much except the series of gun shots fired by the escaped assassin? Are we to assume the assassin's firearm was equipped with a silencer?

Sad.

Was the capsized vessel discovered by the US Coast Guard or the RBDF?

What are the nationalities of the deceased?

Where had the sea vessel departed from and what was its destination?

Where Is the vessel registered and who is the owner of record?

Did the passengers pay for the trip and, if so, who did they pay?

Come on Tribune reporters......chop, chop! Major news events do not take the weekend off.

Booms appear to have been removed so spilled oil not recovered could float out to sea. New sand appears to have been barged in to cover-up the sea floor and sea shore mess left by the spilled oil.

Is the public being left with the impression that what can't be seen poses no threat or harm to the environment?

Are the more reputable environmentalists satisfied with the progress of the clean-up effort to date, or is this going to be just another unfinished clean-up effort as is the case with the Equinor oil spill?

We can only wish them good luck in finding that money tree or pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

This incident has been picked up by the international press. Around the world people are learning how the global oil and gas conglomerate Shell and its Bahamas distributor FOCOL/Sun Oil are responsible for a major oil spill in the Exumas in The Bahamas.

The area of the spill is one of the most pristine island and sea environments on earth according to many an astronaut who has spent time orbiting our planet.

And many people like me who have been fortunate enough to have experienced the magnificent beauty and mesmorising tranquillity of the area before the spill are most deeply saddened by this environmental disaster.

Bottomline: The global oil conglomerate Shell has failed to oversee and monitor the safeguards and preventative measures its Bahamas distributor should have had in place to mitigate the risk of such a environmental disaster occurring and the directors of the boards of FOCOL and its wholly owned subsidiary Sun Oil must be held fully accountable their grave missteps that have contributed to the disaster, with due regard given to the excessively influential role played by FOCOL's chairman.

Both our government, and the Division of Shell responsible for overseeing the distribution arrangements for its products in our country, should, as a minimum, be calling for the resignation of Franklyn Wilson a/k/a Snake from all directorships he holds in FOCOL and its subsidiaries.

Just another political talking head Robin Hood who doesn't realize the days of robbing Peter to pay Paul are over with because even the Peters no longer have it to pay.

Perhaps he's proposing a new tax be imposed only on members of the corrupt wealthy political ruling class, like himself, who have finally succeeded, through decades of corrupt government activities and failed economic policies, in emptying the pockets of all the now very poor Peters and Pauls who so desperately need a social safety net.

P.S.: Better still, government should require all such enterprises like D&T Shipping and FOCOL/Sun Oil to undergo at least an annual independent inspection check (at their cost) to verify they have properly resourced disaster mitigation and remediation plans within our country, including not only necessary equipment, but also adequately trained personnel. This should be commensurate with the environmental risks inherently posed by the nature and scale of the enterprise's business operations.

Whatever equipment, personnel and training costs our government must incur annually to mitigate and remediate the effects of such environmental disasters should be borne by those importing and then selling the highly profitable oil and other fuel products in our country.

Global oil conglomerates like Shell and their distribution partners like FOCOL/Sun Oil are renowned for the many environmental disasters their business operations cause around the world, and they all too often leave the taxpayers of smaller nations they can easily bully (like The Bahamas) with the hefty clean-up bill.

> According to Tourism, Investment and Aviation Minister Chester Cooper, the removed oil will be transported to Bahamas Power and Light Clifton Pier station for processing.

Exactly who is paying for the clean-up effort? Is our government funding these costs for the very wealthy FOCOL/Sun Oil Group?

And why is BPL taking possession of the spilled oil that has been contaminated by seawater? Also why is BPL incurring the costs of transporting the contaminated oil to its Clifton Pier station where it will presumably also incur the costs of re-processing it, i.e., cleaning it up, for use?

These are not things you would expect BPL to be doing without having first obtained FOCOL/Sun Oil's agreement to reimburse it for all costs incurred in connection with the latter's failure to deliver the oil to BPL's Exuma storage terminal in accordance with the DAT (Delivery at Terminal) terms of the transaction invoice for the sale/purchase of the oil.

Truth be told, the Shell/FOCOL/Sun Oil Group has considerably more resources available to it to ensure this oil spill mess is properly cleaned-up. Our government should simply be ensuring by oversight that the mess gets cleaned-up as expeditiously as possible at FOCOL/Sun Oil's expense given that they are the party that contracted with D&T shipping for the MT Arabian to deliver the oil under invoiced DAT trade terms.
