Typical garbage by The Tribune's editorial staff. No right minded Bahamian, in fact, not even the wrong minded ones, would ever entertain supporting either Minnis or Sands. The electorate have had more than enough of brain-dead, power-hungry and politically tone deaf medical doctors.
And the total cost of the meals ended up being chicken feed compared to the total cost of the over-time pay billed by the RBPF to the government, or should I say taxpayers.
Spain long ago forfeited any claim to treasure found in our territorial waters by virtue of its exploitation and eventual annihilation of the indigenous natives they met in our region of the world as well as their major role played in the slave trade. If anything, our spineless and incompetent PM (Short Fatso Davis himself) should have formally declared by now that any and all treasure and related artefacts discovered anywhere in The Bahamas shall be regarded as owned by the Bahamian people and deemed to constitute partial reparations for past evils of nations like Spain, France and others.
All of the foreign lawyers representing Spain's claim to treasure discovered in our territorial waters should be told in no uncertain terms to go fly a kite. We then need to make sure our Minister of Foreign Affairs (Fwreddy Boy Mitchell) does not get to use the treasure and related artefacts to lavishly decorate any of the outrageously costly diplomatic offices he is in the process of establishing abroad.
And you'll never hear him talk about how the very corrupt and greedy Snake is laughing all the way to the bank as he profiteers more than ever off of the vast majority of Bahamians who can no longer afford essentials like gas, electricity, food, medicines, etc.
For decades these foreign owned commercial banks have provided our successive corrupt and incompetent PLP and FNM governments with overly generous credit facilities in exchange for the privilege and right to rape, pillage and plunder the average Bahamian requiring their services. And senior members of the political ruling class, whether they be of the PLP or FNM persuasion, continue to enjoy generous banking privileges for as long as they remain 'useful' in the political sphere.
Within 2 weeks of this tragic incident, U.S. authorities knew both the cause of death and the source of the cause of death.
All concerned, Sandals, the independent contractor it hired, the insurers of Sandals and the insurers of the independent contractor, the estates of the victims and their family members, have all lawyered in a big way in both The Bahamas and the U.S. for the mega million dollar lawsuits alleging wrongful death through gross negligence.
Senior U.S. government officials in the Department of State have already told family members that their claims in this matter will not be allowed to get dragged out over decades in the kangaroo court system of The Bahamas.
Fwreddy Boy Mitchell had better tread very carefully here or risk having his diplomatic wings clipped in a way that he won't be able to fly abroad anymore to mingle with his foreign peers and enjoy unlimited extravagance in spending our tax dollars overseas.
It's now way too late to prevent the inevitable financial collapse of the National Insurance Fund caused by the gross incompetence and greed of successive corrupt FNM and PLP administrations alike. From its inception the administrative costs of running the National Insurance Fund have been outrageously excessive due to its grossly over-bloated headcount combined with greedy crony consultants of every kind constantly sucking on it, not to mention the heavy toll taken by outright and unchecked fraud.
And of course, the National Insurance Fund's bank accounts will continue to be wrongfully used whenever possible by successive corrupt PLP and FNM administrations as a "go to" cookie jar to make all sorts of wasteful and inappropriate investments with total disregard of the NIB's fiduciary obligations and projected liquidity needs for our aging population.
So along comes the very same people, who for decades have played a big role in the impending collapse of the National Insurance Fund, trying to now convince those of us who have been making our National Insurance contributions for many years, that we are somehow responsible for its impending collapse by not contributing enough. Talk about audacious gall !!
No matter what the very cruel Davis may now say, he will very soon be seeking to have employers and employees bail-out this defunct Ponzi scheme by way of higher, in fact exorbitant, additional contributions, combined with significantly reduced retirement benefits. But in these extraordinarily difficult times, Davis and Shameless Shane Gibson are gravely mistaken if they foolishly think blood can somehow be had from a stone. The Bahamian people are completely tapped out like they have never been before, thanks in great part to decades of corrupt government activities of the kind Davis and Gibson are very familiar with.
All National Insurance Fund contributors should now be asking themselves: "Why I am being called on by cruel Davis and the likes of Gibson to continue flushing my money down the toilet in support of a Ponzi scheme destined to near term failure." The music is about to stop and there isn't a chair in sight to sit on!
