Dwama! They accused the officer of bad behavior. That possible! We do have that here. It's possible he cussed her out too. So, this isn't an easy one to sort out. What is interesting here is it took about one month to hear a case which resulted in a 4 day suspension. So, the tone it took to hear the matter was far longer than the actual suspension. If she didn't put in the report the alleged profanity, then what was the suspension for? Also, if he got his badge back the same day, how did they enforce denying him access to the port?
I doubt embarrassment is her concern. I think she probably just feels she may see something that can lead her to finding her child. But, if a crime was committed here she will only be getting in the way. What's interesting here is she was at the yoga retreat. So, do they have security cameras? Can anyone just come on to their property? If she's in a rent on property I assume there are other tents around, so no one heard anything? Then the passports missing? It seems to suggest she just left. The typical criminal here wouldn't leave with their victim. There would be a crime scene at thr yoga retreat. Usually, people who are victims of crimes are not quiet during the criminal act..even if a gun was used the initial reaction when seeing someone is to make noise. To agree with a previous commenter, if a crime was committed here it would more than likely be someone who followed her from Chicago. This doesn't come across as some random act, if a crime was committed.
Let's be honest, our police ain't that good. But, this is a case involving a US citizen so there is pressure. They will do more than their usual. If all of the personal items is there except the passport that is odd. Why is it missing? Did she leave on her own? It's not likely that some criminal would have taken it with along with her unless it was in her possession at the time. People usually don't take their passports with them at all times.
The comment about the Minister of National Security lying about the FBI being involved, I don't think he would have lied. A US citizen missing overseas would lead to the FBI's involvement. Why are they expecting to get her phone back in the middle of an investigation? They may be frustrated but you have to allow the authorities the keg room to do their job.
A Gestapo state. First of all this is tax collection. Seems like a much softer approach is warranted. You're not going after armed robbers and murderers. Gross overkill. Why would you be collecting money on a visit in any scenario? Either the PM is detached from reality or there is some statement being made here that is in extremely poor taste.
First of all armed law enforcement officers are not skilled in business. Their approach is usually one of aggression and intimidation. If you anticipate potential physical conflict you can have officers outside who can be called in if the need arises. But, of course you don't need high powered, heavily armed officers for that. If this seemed to make sense to someone they should employ that at all of the government agencies collecting revenue. With all of the stealing, mismanagement, etc there should be a heavy handed approach to bring them in order.
Why is this information from December and January? What are the latest stats? Who is the genius at the Ministry of Health responsible for this information? Every step we have to show we're a backwards banana republic.
What approach is correct? If you're taking guns off the street there should be more gun prosecutions, which you're not hearing. Also, to take guns of the street the police need to be very visible on the street which they are not. They're a joke. The shooting at the courthouse on Nassau Street is a good indication of just how lousy they are. If you can't secure a place that's a symbol of law and order that is right next to a police station, what can you secure and what kind of job can you be doing if this can happen so easily?
Clearly, there were no guidelines followed here with regards to where boats should be in the water. One thing, it shouldn't matter if it's a visitor or a local person involved, a tragedy isn't less or more because of what category you fall into. The government, boat operators, etc all need to take responsibility for safety.
So, the courthouse isn't a safe spot? Doesn't thus show that the police are not doing their jobs? We keep hearing excuses from the police and the government why crime is the way it is, but here you have a spot that can be easily controlled but clearly wasn't. This is clearly a reflection of the fact the police are incompetent and lazy. A simple security plan can fix this. This is a joke. Think of how many innocent people could have been affected here.
How do we have so many officers and so many vehicle's for them but such lousy policing?
Wow! Seriously? This is just insane. To make this even more ubsane it appears thus wasn't about non-compliance but a routine check if compliance. What is going in this country?
Lol. Mr. Hoffer is conquered? In these situations it's hard to say what's true and what's not. Unfortunately in this country if you pay a couple of people in the right positions, you don't have to worry about right and wrong, abiding by or breaking the law.
