I'm not sure why we keep going down this nonsensical road of more taxes. A deficit is a loss. A surplus is a profit The idea is to get to a surplus (profit). You have a deficit when your expenses exceeds your income. To break even or get to a surplus you either need to increase revenue or reduce expenses or both. So, why is the focus on revenue. Every government knows the real issue is the cost of the public service. The true solution is a reduction of the headcount of the public service. Also, this government is spending like crazy knowing fully well we have a deficit. They're also creating jobs out of thin air for loyal party supporters who have to be paid. So, if you really, seriously want to fix the national financial problem you have to stop adding to it. Take a red oen and go through the public service and we will be at a surplus in no time. Once the government only spends what it needs to spend we will be in track to pay down the national debt. This country is small enough that it can easily be ran as a company. Anyone serious enough to run this country can righ TV thi svc ship un a few years. You can't hire incompetent CEOs and expect things to go well.
Lol. It's censorship of.the press. The US and Canadian governments didn't place a travel advisory because the crime information was on the front page. This guy! Lol.
This is interesting! A lot of countries don't place crimes on the front page of their newspapers because an incident isn't relevant in the context of their population. If you have 250 million people a handful of murders on a given day does not move the needle to be a major event to capture the front page of a paper. But, when you have a similar amount of murders happening in a very small country it is a major event that will warrant a front page coverage. The PM is being a little naive or thinks the population is, it doesn't matter where you place it in the papers, governments will advise their people it's an issue. Do you think if the local papers put it deep in paper the US Embassy won't know there is a crime problem? It is idiotic to think placement in a paper is the issue here. It's laughable the PM would say something so silly. That spells he has no strategy to combat crime. If there was a strategy you don't need to tell the papers where to place a story or how to write or to check with him if they can do it or not. He's trying to censor the press. It begins with the message hurts tourism. It will continue to other things as he doesn't want to show they don't have control. Crime is bad and they're spending money like no tomorrow but the country is running deficit after deficit. Mr. Davis please run the country and do what you said you would do. Don't look around to see who you can blame for something to make it seem as if you're less incompetent.
The Ttibune disables crime articles for comments. Wjy did they enable for this situation? This is a tragedy. Leaving g this open doesn't respect the family. You run the risk of some insensitive person putting something here to add to the family's pain.
There are considerable amount of problems and there seems to be zero oversight by URCA. Sometimes you check your bill and there are phone charges from prior months. Also, there seems to be fraudulent text charges on bills. Several people say they found them on theirs. I'm sure BTC is aware of it. If you go to complain about a problem they find a million reasons not to address it.
The senior citizen complained about the banks as well. I find that complaints to regulatory bodies around here is a waste of time. The Central Bank, URCA, the Insurance Commission, etc. just want to be ornaments. If younfile a complaint they pretty much tell you, no matter what the bank or utility company or insurance company did, they can't help you. It ain't their business. I sent a complaint to URCA years ago I never even got a reply to say com I ain't received. This country is a joke.
It's sad to read some of the comments here from this writer. Senior citizens should be treated with respect. Then again in this country we don't respect anyone else. Quite sad. We're a banana republic trying to sell ourselves as a civilized, developing society.
The government seeks to find a solution to crime. You don't have a scenario where there is no crime. Your aim is to lower your crime statistics. Often the focus is on punishment. Executing someone doesn't lower your murder rate. Someone mentioned the US in the comments above. In a lot of major cities in the US there is an extremely high crime rate. The deal out punishment like candy. So, punishment isn't your solution. If we look at the European countries, their crime rates are extremely low compared to the US. They are quite lenient with their punishment. If you dig deeper you find a common trend, a good education system with free education provided through to university and a good healthcare system. It seems they treat people like human beings rather than animals. So, maybe that's the solution. If a poor man is treated like a man rather than a dog you may get him to act like a human being.
Where did they get this title "violence interrupter"? Why not just called them community activists. How would these.two men stop guys from retaliatory killings? You sit and talk to a guy an dvn he says, "You now although so and so killed my boy, I ga just leave that and forgive him". Really? Really? This is a joke. You need serious people addressing these matters. This is a clown show right now. I'm not saying either men are clowns. I'm saying the whole idea of these two.marching into communities and getting young guys to put down their guns is a joke. Community leaders can help. The key word here is leaders. Two random out of touch guys can't make a huge dent in the problem.
Nonsense! We need to fix the backlog of cases. I don't understand how the PM didn't figure out this bill is a waste of time beforehand. What sickens me in this article is that all of these defense attorneys are criticizing the bill but none have made a suggestion on how to address the underlying issue. A suggestion may translate to loss revenue aye? I'm pretty sure these defense attorneys given the lineup of clients that they have, they should have some good suggestions on how to tackle crime.
This article should have clarified what the issue was with the taxi drivers and Atlantis. On the pay increase, the cost of living is high. So, it makes sense to ask for an increase. The article should have stated when the last increase was done. I see that the responses here are pro-Atlantis. Let's not forget these are the same folks fighting like warlords against the Wendy's and Marcos pizza going over PI. If the union is being reasonable Atlantis should listen and try to find a compromise if the ask is too much.
