Geez! This appears to be a game.

One, if they were not using futures contracts like the previous administration before, have they started to do that now?

Two, they are talking about pil process fluctuations. They should show where global oil prices were from when they took over to where they are now and clearly state when the last oil futures contract from the previous administration ended. Something here seems off. From what I know there have been a major falloff in oil prices for months. The reduction in supply from OPEC didn't result in a major spike in global oil prices due to the low demand from China which pretty much negated th e cut. So, why are they telling a story of price increase?

Three, they should be transparent with all of the figures to give the population a clear picture of where we started, where we are and where we are going with regards to these pil prices. The story they keep giving isn't aligned with global oil prices. If prices are down why are they saying up and if it went up in a couple of months a bit but is still lower than where it stood a year or so ago where is this massive bill coming from? The FNM futures contracts could not have ended at the time the PLP took office and prices should not have gotten so out of control from that period to now to justify some major collection push. So, what is really going on?

This is about numbers. The PM and the Minister responsible for BPL needs to give a clear picture with numbers and timelines to explain this story. Their story doesn't appear to align with global oil pricing. Once again money appears to be bouncing around to a place no citizen knows.

Well, they won't get the money. So, back to square one. If Dr. Ian Strachan was shortlisted before and he is already there, why wasn't he made interim head until they sort out future leadership? I'm not saying that as a negative to Dr. Strachan. I'm just curious why they went with the lady who was no longer there and who ran the institution while it was a college (not a university). I'm not saying that as a negative to Mrs. Hodder.

It would be good to know why the President left. If there are issues that need to be addressed you can't bring in someone new, who isn't aware of these issues, and expect things to work. So, they ar the very least need to fix whatever issues are going on there, if there are issues. A professional usually doesn't take a job overseas and less than a year later resign citing personal issues. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it's highly unusual.

Interesting! The GBPA always says there's a billion projects in the pipeline. So, what's new here? They listed a lot of projects. First thing, what are the dates of completion for each? Second, let's see what actually gets done.

The PM said that the GBPA isn't adhering to the terms of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement. Ok. So, say what penalty you're going to levy to get them to comply. Don't stand in Parliament giving an empty speech while Grand Bahamians starve.

trueBahamian says...

A lot of political creativity at play. If we want to give them the benefit that they are trying to do the right thing, which we know they're not, why are the persons overlooking the funds government officials? If you create funds, how about you include also persons from the private sector who can have proper oversight? Od course we know they won't do that. But, why do we as Bahamians don't demand these thjngs?

If the funds are unconstitutional, then demand that this can't happen. If they have a legitimate reason for going this route then demand that it is properly ran and it is transparent.

I don't understand the issue here. They bought the property. They want to put their stores in there. What's the issue. Why are these hotel properties dictating what goes there. None of these hotel properties are keeping the money they make in this country. These foreign business owners are generally not looking out for the best interests of this country. So, why are they having so much say here? I see Bahamar teaming up with Royal Caribbean for the destruction of Paradise Island. I don't get how a bunch of non-Bahamians are having so much input and sway in this country. When they are finished destroying and pillaging this country, thg eyes will leave and go.gome with their vast fortunes made here.

If Wendy's and Marcos want to go.in that spot or if the ghost of Christmas past, who.cares. They own the spot. There are tons of establishments on Paradise Island. Why block these two? Are the hotels afraid their guests may opt for Wendy's and Marco's as opposed to an overpriced meal that's not well prepared with substandard service from waiters? If you're going to have bad service better to have it at $10 or $20 as opposed to $300, right?

trueBahamian says...

That's over the top. Although, you may not agree with the decision, it's their decision to make. Every human being has a right to be treated as a person.

trueBahamian says...

Reading this story where it's mentioned being rapee at 11, I would agree with your assumption of confusion. Perhaps, the first thing would be to address all of the issues that they have dealt with. I'm not going to debate on the transgender topic but the first thing that needs to be ironed out is whether there is some issue driving this or do most or all of them actually want to.change gender. That is a very radical step.

On the exaggerated behavior, I agree as well. It's like trying to be a woman or man times two or three.

trueBahamian says...

Lol. That's the standard Bahamian argument. We don't have accountability. That is the problem.

trueBahamian says...

I don't get the argument that the Bahamas is a high end destination therefore people coming here are prepared to pay a premium. Sounds quite idiotic to me. I need him to explain what makes this a high end (luxury) destination. We have nice beaches, yes. But, so do a lot of places around the world. To say something like that suggests to me he doesn't travel much or understand the concept of luxury. Tell me, besides beaches, what do we have that outshines most places globally. We don't even respeft.our history to preserve our historical sites. Our culture goes way beyond Junkanoo and conch salad people, but how.much of it does a tourist really see or better yet.how much do we as Bahamians see?

There are lots of deficiencies in the tourism product. It seems that the entire Ministry of Tourism hasn't figured that out yet.
