There are too many "coincidences" surrounding the granting of contracts. Also, why do we need to pay for a health visa when

1. You have a negative PCR that you can easily show at a check-in counter at any US airport before arrival back in the Bahamas.

2. You have to take a rapid antigen test 5 days later, which is submitted directly to the government. the way it is set up, you are directed to specific testing sites as opposed to being able to choose where you want to go.

I don't see the need to control this process the way the government is doing it besides to ensure money flows in a certain direction. I don't see the US asking anyone to pay for a health visa.

Interesting! Alicia's articles are usually very interesting. Compared to the other writers, the command of the English language is considerably better than the others it seems. Well written and informative!

Seriously? The stats were down last year because of the lockdowns. To throw in that other countries were up is nonsense. First of all, were the areas in those countries (states, provinces, etc.) with an increase under a lockdown. Secondly, most of our crime happens on New Providence which is extremely small. so, when you do a lockdown it is easy to spot people moving about. The Minister of National Security and the Commissioner are lying. Last year the Minister commended the police force for a job well done. Really? Covid-19 lockdowns and curfews brought our numbers down. So, if you take their logic for 2020 then they should be telling the police force that they are now doing a horrible job. But, they are trying to say the crime is up despite the hard work of the police. Just total garbage!

On Lockdown did help reduce crime stats

BPL historically ahs been overstaffed and employees were fleecing the system salarywise. Added to this we are getting a substandard service at a very high cost. If management is bringing in foreigners to do jobs that locals can do this further exacerbates the situation. Can we please privatize this company and move on. This is a gross waste of taxpayer money.

It's election time I see. Promises! Promises! Promises!

Freeport is an odd story. The city seems to have so much potential, but nothing seems to happen. On this idea, as a blogger mentioned above, you need to have planes coming here for that. Just simply saying you have the service does not guarantee you business. Shouldn't a businessman know this already?

lol. I agree.

This story is going in circles. Can we have an independent group get a list of detainees at all Immigration sites (safe houses, detention center, etc.) and check the persons there against this list? There also should be an investigation done on the department. There are too many issues popping up.

I don't gully understand the health visa. You take a test, that you receive the results electronically that you can present at the airport as proof of a negative Covid-19 test, which is what the government needs to see. so, why the need for the health visa. This very test has to be submitted to get an approval. Added to this, you have to show the health visa approval to come into the country. But, you can simply show the negative PCR test. The Ministry of Health can still track you and have you provide the rapid antigen test 5 days after arrival here which you can upload. Clearly something is fishy here.

With regards to health insurance for visitors. Really? So, if someone is sick while here, the health visa will cover what expenses exactly? It's a game for sure.

the second excerpt seems to me contradictory to the first. If I followed the logic employed prior to the recent ruling, it would suggests the language in the first excerpt should be strengthen to state the marriage of the parents. Otherwise, I interpret the second to be a contradiction to the first. How does anyone become a citizen if either parent is in the first but if you are born out of wedlock in the 2nd it's the citizenship of the mother?

I'm not a lawyer. From a layman's point of view it's contradictory unless the language is altered in the first excerpt to add the word "marriage" for the parents.
