We are fed lies in a lot of books we read. History is often filled with lies. It's important to challenge what you read sometimes. As children for example, we were taught that Cristopher Columbus discovered San Salvador and other Bahamian islands. In that history we are told he met the Indians (Arawaks) that were here. No one ever asked the question, well how did he discover a place where the Indians were already living in? Clearly they discovered it before he did. Also, there is evidence that Africans (don't know which countries) knew the route to the "New World" for more than a century before Columbus accidentally found his way in this direction.

We are taught the brilliance of the Greeks. But, we are not told that the great names in Greek history studied under the Egyptians (black people). Take Pythagoras for example. Pythagoras studied for 30 years (if I recall correct) in Egypt. Pythagoras is known for his theorem on right angles triangles. Here's the kicker for this, each great civilization contributed to the field of Mathematics. The Egyptians were known for triangles. So, Pythagoras took his Egyptian training and got credit for their ideas.

The utopian concept that we think can not be achieved was actually achieved by Africans. When we look at military prowess, we are not taught how the Zulus defeated repeatedly the mighty British army. The British had modern weapons for that time that they brought to fight the Zulus who fought with Spears. Yet, the Zulus won. Some of us may have heard of one of the great Zulu leaders, Chaka.

When we speak of religion, once again be careful what you read or are told. Think about Mormons believe blackness is a curse from God to one of the sons of Nkah for laughing at Noah. So, all black people are a curse. Christians believe that only those who follow Christ will go to heaven but those same Christians will say that the Jews are God's chosen people. If they refer to the sentence that only Christian's can go to heaven then the Jews don't get a pass. On a side note, the Jews today that live in Jerusalem that claim they have a right to the land they're on have no historical ties to that land. A lot of the mare from places like the Ukraine, etc. Everythingyou learn, you hear, you believe from time to time you have to exam if it is true.

Wow! A very informative article. Really good! There are a lot of positives about the medicinal values of marijuana. It's interesting that there's so much negativity surrounding the medicinal value of marijuana. Pharmaceutical companies want everyone to continue popping their products, no matter how destructive. They have to make their profits, whether you're harmed or helped.

The reason we have this issue was due to us opening the borders in July. This reopening allowed Bahamians to leave for trips and tourists to come in. The virus prior to this was contained and we had the situation dealt with. It was a poor decision that led us down this road.

Nowz there's no plan, no strategy. Just let it ride.

I think he intends to stay, but he is waiting for a play from somewhere. He knows that there are things going on in the party. When something happens, he wants to be around to get some spoils of the war. If things were great in the party, he would have left already as he would not have a chance to get a seat back at the table.

Someone needs to give her a training in professionalism. One thing you have to say here, it takes a lot of stones to tell the Minister "f--- y'all". When you think we've hit the lowest point we can go, we show there's still room below.

There are a lot of things needed to bring the public education system up to where it should be. We need people to fight for that. Sometimes discussions can get heated. However, respect should never be thrown out the window. You can have heated debates between professionals that hours later everyone when they're calm can resume and smooth things over and there's no hard feelings.

Mrs. Wilson said that the Minister should not have shared a private conversation in the public domain. Wow! She clearly missed the picture that she was totally out of line. That's a very disgraceful behavior from her side. She's nit stating that it never happened which confirms that it did. This can not be the face of teachers in this country. She has to go. I think that perhaps there could be some issues that she's fighting for that perhaps Mr. Lloyd may not be addressing or not addressing in a timely manner. But, you can't behave like you are a thug on the street. Every teacher in this country needs to vote for a better representative. This is extremely poor behavior.

No new industry can come overnight and drive our economy, I agree. However, you have to start building new.ones now and breathe more life into those small ones that are running now.

There is something we can do now. We can improve the ease of doing business. I assume Mr. Turnquest reads this paper and also follows the rankings online for the ease of doing business. If we're ranked lower than the West Bank and Gaza Strip, it's clear that we have issues. We can easily fix the bottlenecks in government bureaucracy. We can easily remove unnecessary paperwork and controls that add zero value to the process. We can speed up approvals. This can be done in months or a year at most. Why isn't this being done? All we get is excuses, excuses, excuses. A donkey can figure this out and realize it can help us out quite a lot.

If we are to be a country of laws and we establish policies to dictate how our country should be run, then there should be a common standard. Squatting, building structures not up to code should not be tolerated.

The whole discussion on Crown land is a disgrace. Bahamians for years are waiting on approvals. Then. Foreign investor shows up and is given hundreds of acres without any issues. There has to be a level aying field.
