Why is commenting enabled for this story but disabled for the one where a lawyer is calling out the President of the Bar to speak on the allegations made against a lawyer who is sitting on a committee of the bar? This country is a joke. You have a guy sitting on a committee on the Bar Association, which is responsible for upholding the integrity of the legal profession locally appearing to be deeply involved in criminal behavior. This ain't a country. This is a sh$t show in the Atlantic.
The PM said he is allowing the police to determine what the "help" will be from Scotland Yard. Then the Commissioner said that the SIB department from the RBPF will lead the investigation but they will be supervised by the undermanned Imspectorate whose job is to oversee the Corruption Unit. So, an understaffed department that we can be sure lacks any expertise int his arena will guide a local police unit on what will be done to investigate their fellow officers and they will then instruct Scotland Yard what help they need from them. This is a long way of just saying, this ain't a real investigation. It's just some smoke blowing to look like they are doing something. Scotland Yard along with the FBI need to investigate. A shooting happened on US soil connected to this story. So, let these two independent bodies look into this matter. The Commissioner and his men need to stand down for this one.
Given all this dancing and bobbing and weaving we should deduce that there are a lot of dirty hands. Some hands may not be connected to this matter but as we know once the ball starts rolling other things may come into play. I don't think the police and PLP want that. So, they are doing all they can to control the narrative. It wouldn't surprise me if at the end they say it isn't the head of CDU on the tape and he's a decent upstanding guy. Then he may even get a promotion given the nonsense that happens here. Another thing, why wasn't the lawyer brought in for questioning with regards to this matter? The President of the bar have a sore throat aye? You can't hear a peep from him. Everybody gone fishing on this one! This country needs to get rid of corruption. Time to clean house with the police and the politicians. I sincerely hope the US and other countries apply enough pressure to bring all of these low down criminals to justice.
This is odd. That should be jail time easy. Say it's his first offense. Lol. Seriously?! You jump to a felony on a first offense and say "Ooops, I had a bad day?". Keep ij mind it's his first time befite the courts. It's probably not the first time he's done something like this. Usually, you don't go from quiet law abiding citizen to roughing up someone and threatening to kill them.
Unh? What I missed? This is a crime..why aren't they sure if the police is involved. This is nonsense. They should report this to the police. If the police is already involved they should be giving an update on the case. This is utter nonsense. I didn't know we had a functioning Consumer Protection department. Well I should say one opened as it doesn't appear they are functioning in the right manner. If you have a scam going, it should be with the police. Also, the public should be told which company or companies are involved in these scams. This is just BASIC. Looksikr they haven't figured that out yet.
Dwama! They accused the officer of bad behavior. That possible! We do have that here. It's possible he cussed her out too. So, this isn't an easy one to sort out. What is interesting here is it took about one month to hear a case which resulted in a 4 day suspension. So, the tone it took to hear the matter was far longer than the actual suspension. If she didn't put in the report the alleged profanity, then what was the suspension for? Also, if he got his badge back the same day, how did they enforce denying him access to the port?
I doubt embarrassment is her concern. I think she probably just feels she may see something that can lead her to finding her child. But, if a crime was committed here she will only be getting in the way. What's interesting here is she was at the yoga retreat. So, do they have security cameras? Can anyone just come on to their property? If she's in a rent on property I assume there are other tents around, so no one heard anything? Then the passports missing? It seems to suggest she just left. The typical criminal here wouldn't leave with their victim. There would be a crime scene at thr yoga retreat. Usually, people who are victims of crimes are not quiet during the criminal act..even if a gun was used the initial reaction when seeing someone is to make noise. To agree with a previous commenter, if a crime was committed here it would more than likely be someone who followed her from Chicago. This doesn't come across as some random act, if a crime was committed.
Let's be honest, our police ain't that good. But, this is a case involving a US citizen so there is pressure. They will do more than their usual. If all of the personal items is there except the passport that is odd. Why is it missing? Did she leave on her own? It's not likely that some criminal would have taken it with along with her unless it was in her possession at the time. People usually don't take their passports with them at all times.
The comment about the Minister of National Security lying about the FBI being involved, I don't think he would have lied. A US citizen missing overseas would lead to the FBI's involvement. Why are they expecting to get her phone back in the middle of an investigation? They may be frustrated but you have to allow the authorities the keg room to do their job.
A Gestapo state. First of all this is tax collection. Seems like a much softer approach is warranted. You're not going after armed robbers and murderers. Gross overkill. Why would you be collecting money on a visit in any scenario? Either the PM is detached from reality or there is some statement being made here that is in extremely poor taste.
First of all armed law enforcement officers are not skilled in business. Their approach is usually one of aggression and intimidation. If you anticipate potential physical conflict you can have officers outside who can be called in if the need arises. But, of course you don't need high powered, heavily armed officers for that. If this seemed to make sense to someone they should employ that at all of the government agencies collecting revenue. With all of the stealing, mismanagement, etc there should be a heavy handed approach to bring them in order.

Maybe the officer's aim was off or as the guy approached him he didn't have time to aim for the chest and fired right away.
