What a load of horse feathers. They are trying to get Toby Smiths rightful property and this man has no idea of geography - that we are not anywhere near the Caribbean, but between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico!
Let Bahamasair fly away or be absorbed by an airline which knows its business. Also, ATRs are not the most practical or cost efficient aircraft to use.
What about downtown properties that have been dead and buried for well over a year and all savings depleted? It is a morgue! Property owners cannot pay what they do not receive - and know without a doubt that there will not be enough to pay current property tax rates much less any increases.
Hopefully these jobs are not for lifetime pay when I have had to sell belongings and land and am still broke to pay property tax and insurances. Kept health but property insurance had to be cancelled. Look at Bay Street and Woodes Rogers Walk - between as being a ghost town and a morgue. Property taxes should be forgiven for debt ridden non productive areas that have no way out.
Good action Toby. I back you 100% of the way. We need to put these foreign behemoths in their place and humble them. I would sign a petition if one is available in favour of your approved in principle application. Most would. Royal Caribbean has weaseled out too much advantage and they expect that we will bend to their wishes. no! never! Downtown businesses can put out signs and flyers discouraging tourists and the RCL passengers from being taken in by these hoodwinking hoodlums. I certainly will consider that.
Boy - this country has more than its fair share of obstinate opinionated and uninformed idiots who cannot see past their own irritating selves - and that is not the government - it is the partyers and naysayers who flap their mouths with nonsensical theories which are not only unproven but are completely unsound.
This is off the main thread of this story, but is something people should know anyway - for the main part the only shops open in Nassau (like diamonds and emeralds etc) are owned by cruise ship companies and their owners. The rest (Bahamian businesses and property owners) cannot afford the rent or taxes and so are closed. Nassau town is a morgue for what once was. If people become overly dependent on these types of visitors and the supply stops, then this happens.
Done with these union mobsters. I'm keeping my pennies in my pocket rather than theirs and arguing where I have to for myself. They don't see me as anything but another soldier for them. I am going to save my money and go out on my own.
