Quote "Citing reform of the gaming industry......as achievements"
It is true. No other Government will ever dare to ignore the results of a nationwide referendum, which clearly stated that we, the public, did NOT wish to legalise the numbers racket and legitimise the numbers business, which is just a front for prostitution, drug dealing, loan sharking and goodness knows what other crimes.
Please tell us more about the "achievements" and how you have besmirched the name of our once proud democracy
Nowhere in this article, nor other recent statements made by Mr Miller, will we the consumers see a reduction in our electric bills due to the recent huge fall in oil prices. How can he explain this ? Is the Corporation paying top dollar to Snake at our expense, or is BEC gouging us so that it can pay its bills to suppliers and overtime for its so-called workers? And he also states that BEC can "cope with" Bahamar at full capacity - yes, but apparently only by renting additional generators.
Whenever he opens his mouth, Mr Miller just gives the FNM another slogan to use at the next election. Hold on to your hats people, it's going to be a bumpy, hot, ride this Summer
Can't they even tell if the power is up and running. Or are they just rushing to give us some "good" news, while they frantically check that the repairs are holding up ?
I swear whenever I hear "it's Miller Time" in future, all I'll think of is darkness and misery
Power out 1.30 pm Friday. Power back on 1.30 am Sunday. Total hours without any power or running water - 36 hours. Please tell me who will pay for all the rotten food I (and thousands of others) will now have to throw out, together with broken electrical appliances? Government was recently so quick to point out how much money a strike by the Bahamas Air pilots "cost" them - $840,000........anyone care to guess how much Mr Miller's incompetence has cost the country in the last two days alone? My conservative estimate is $8,400,000. And we have not even seen BahaMar come on stream and the first days of Summer are still months away.....Shame on you Government, shame on you.
No surprise that we are not told how much was collected for VAT. Without a FOIA, the government will just bank the tax then pay the cronies, party faithful and politicians their cut, then, if we're lucky, there will be a few dollars left over to pay down the debt.
In a way, I'm grateful for S&P telling us what a mess we are in. If we only had our Government to listen to, you would think that everything is wonderful, and that the economy is right on track.
Funny how the information sees the light of day now, almost as a disincentive to any privatisation bidders for BEC.......in effect Christie is saying "You can buy BEC, but we will cut fuel subsidies once it is out of our hands" What a shambles this government is....nothing is ever honest and above-board with them
