So will Baker's Bay start paying duty and vat too or will the mega millionaires there still get all of the breaks while the struggling Bahamians continue to get screwed.

As far as I can tell, Abaco has a completely new power grid built since the hurricane. Yet power goes out just about every time it rains, just like it did before the hurricane. At least once a week we have serious brown outs.
Without a complete change of ownership, management and personnel(which will never happen) I'm afraid we will never see anything better than what we have.

The only mistake the government made was to allow unrestricted building to continue for so long. Haitian, American or Bahamian, no one is allowed to go into the bush, pick a piece of land and say "this is mine" and build a house on it. Why should Haitians get special treatment in our country? Doesn't matter if they were born here, you have to own land to build a house on it. End of story.

That piece of land where the new shanty town is located is one of the biggest unoccupied pieces of land on Abaco. If it isn't stopped and removed, they will never stop building. Five years from now there will be thousands of houses and tens of thousands of people living there. Why should we allow our country to turn into the new Haiti?

You must not live in Abaco then. Vehicles pass on corners like they're not there. They pull out of a corner onto the main highway in front of you and the only option you have is to slam on the brake pedal to avoid a collision instead of waiting two seconds for you to pass first. I can't count the number of times someone passed me, only to turn off the road seconds later, forcing me to slow down to almost a complete stop when they could have waited two seconds longer behind me.

No need. There's hundreds of houses that have been built and more under construction next to the Treasure Cay Airport.
All of the displaced illegal immigrants from Sand Banks and Marsh Harbour have just moved further north while the inept government sits on their hands.

Anyone stupid enough to not only run from the police but fire a gun at them should not be shocked to learn that they die.

We all know that the politicians who approved this will be getting a large "donation" to their Swiss bank account and/or a lucrative contract for themselves or a close family member at Baker's Bay.
About the money leaving the country, wages were the majority of the money the Bahamas received from the whole project since they never paid any vat and duty.

You're right on most out islands, but Abaco subsidizes Nassau. The amount of money we send in compared to the tiny amount we get back cannot continue. Every year we're sending more and more money, and every year, we get less and less. Local government funds get major cuts every year.

Condolences to the family of the pilot. However, I fail to see what they're blaming divers for? The airplane landed in the water with a problem (open) door and sank immediately. There was no chance of a rescue.

Exactly. A Bahamian passport is no guarantee to entry to the US. They're not going to allow someone without the means to pay for what I'm sure is a very expensive surgery to enter the country.
Maybe they've been in contact with the hospital and they're going to do it free?
Even then, in this political climate, there's very little chance they allow her to enter the country.
