This project just shows how the Bahamas operates. This venture was being developed during the last government.

After the government changed in May 2017, big time FNM supporters were brought into the project and placed in the forefront.

This project ties into the cruise port development. One of the complaints from surveys of cruise passengers, there was a lack of on shore attractions on New Providence. Also many historical sites like Blackboard's Tower and the Water Tower were not properly maintained.

Like some one said to me, there is more to Bahamian tourism besides sun, sand and sea. This is an attempt to capitalize on the Bahamas historical sites to generate income for the country and funds for their continual maintenance.

Typical bahamian politician. He railed against the Bahamar project while in opposition. Now he turns and supports it and basks in it's achievements.
.Like someone said to me, the PLP did the same thing with Atlantis. They threaten the investment while in opposition. When they returned to power, they supported the project and give them more concessions for further investments.

Like some one said to me.there are persons outside the Bahamas ,who is just laugh at Bahamians and their politicians.

What goes around, comes around. That old saying.

The Punch was used to run a smear campaign against financial secretary Wilson and other civil servants. The former DPM said nothing about it but now the shoe is on the older foot. All I can say there, is there is very little investigative journalism and understanding of financial matters in the Bahamas.

There are competent people working in the Ministry of Finance. The former finance minister and the acting financial secretary were not all that .

They stopped all the projects started by the financial secretary Wilson. They however restarted them after their idiotic vat raise, They then had to restart the Revenue Enhancement Unit, the Click to Clear project and the Tyler Technology project to modernize the real property department. The foreign financial expert said to me, all of Wilson's ideas made sense. He said that neither Peter Turnquest nor Marlon Johnson understand economic policy and planning. He said what you saw from Turnquest and Johnson is just a lot of bad fiscal decisions

This situation was bubbling below the surface for some time. It just hit the media now.

This lady is not a lawyer. Her older sister Michelle is a lawyer and a partner at Graham, Thompson and Company.

i don't know this lady's motivation to enter politics. Bahamians love politics and power. Both prime ministers Mia Mottley of Barbados and Justin Trudeau of Canada's fathers were politicians. There have also been political dynasties both here and aboard.

All of those persons involved in this situation should have been terminated. They also should be sued so BPL could recover the monies they were paid. The individual who made the decision to make them permanent and pensionable should be questioned. If that person knew about this situation, they should be disciplined.

I think nothing will really come of this sorry situation. That is how things are done in this country. The taxpayers will simply bear this burden unfortunately.

The Bahamian economy at the present time is merely a small extension of the American economy. It is based on american consumption in tourism, real estate sales and development and some financial services. The financial services sector in the Bahamas has been shrinking and withering away since the early 2000's.

There has been little effort to move beyond the Harold Christie/Stafford Sands model. In fact, other countries in the caribbean have copied it. Cuba which went back into tourism in the mid nineties and Donald Trump's reversal of the Obama administration normalization of ties was getting around 3 million stop-over tourism per year. More Canadians visit Cuba and the Dominican Republic than come to the Bahamas. There is more linkage between the local Jamaican economy and their hotel industry than what we have in the Bahamas. At some level levels of development, Jamaica is years ahead of the Bahamas.

Like somebody said, all Cov-19 did, was expose what was there and Bahamians refuse to see.

Parliament has to review that law and make amendments if need be. The commissioner is right in what he is saying.

This happens when laws and regulations are passed without properly understanding their effects. Sometimes they create a cascading effect and have unintended consequences. You are now giving criminal records to persons for some minor offences if they are found guilty. Hence you may end up having persons with criminal records who may lose employment or may not become employed if they don't have a clean police record.

BONEFISH says...

It is what it is. Did not the commissioner of police say that?

In the Bahamas, the poor and unconnected are expected to follow the rules. Not those other people. Get it.
