I am not surprised by this at all.For years cruise lines have been making their own island getaways. This is also a reaction to the end of the subsidies to the cruise lines.Things like this happen when politicians don't understand why certain policies were created. They and the media. The cruise lines are firmly in the drivers' seat in this industry.
The government is hoping to limit the spread of the coronavirus through this curfew. They are following in the foot steps of other countries. They were caught flat footed by the virus spread and other countries reaction to it.This situation also exposes how vulnerable this country and it's economy is to external shocks. That is one of the reasons a former FNM cabinet minister in the Ingraham government felt reducing the deficit to zero in three years was too ambitious.
This situation is unprecedented. It shows how dependent this country is on tourism. How the country imports basically everything it consumes. My job is directly tied to tourism. So I am worried about my family's health and liveli
Bernie Sanders can not win the democratic party nomination. An analyst on CNN basically said so.The fire wall created by the centrist bloc in the democratic party in the 1980's held on super Tuesday. He has not much support among key factions in the party like African Americans, white southerners and blue collar workers.
It does not surprise me at all.Just reinventing the wheel. All of the projects he is just babbling about were started by the previous financial secretary. The Revenue enhancement unit was working quite well.I was told by somebody in 2018 that unit which he disbanded, had to be restarted. A big time FNM supporter said to me ,he does not know what is doing. All he is , a next one of Dr.Minnis's political payoffs.
Age has nothing to do with leadership in politics.Bahamians like to think so.Sir Winston Churchill became prime minister of Great Britain at the age of 65. Both major political parties in the Bahamas are hardly democratic. They only have national conventions when it suits the party insiders. They strongly oppose any attempt to have a strong local government. They are so far from the Westminister system of government.

That business combination was suggested and put together by one Sir Lynden Pindling. Shanendon Cartwright is a backbencher and the member of parliament for St.Barnabas.

In the Bahamas, there is no real attempt to set up a real local government system. That is why local government in the family islands is still at the infantile state according to a report.
That is why the minister for local government,Renward Wells opposes a strong local government for New Providence. He fears giving up power.and control to the very people he purports to represent in parliament.
I am not surprised at all about the reaction to the pilot bus program initially.
There is always been resistance to change in this country.
Sensible progressive ideas take years to come to this country.
This pilot program should have been done from 1995
it is now being done 25 years later.
Despite the political propaganda of the UBP,PLP and FNM politicians, the Bahamas is a backward country. An educated Bahamian told me that. Not having a unified public transportation is affecting life on this island. He told me howis afecting the quality of life on this island and draining the wallets of the average Bahamian.

What the good doctor,Dr.Minnis did with that speech,is straight out of other world leaders 'playbook.
My government has a lot of complex problems, they have trouble solving.
He does not address them.He does not speak anything related to the borrowing resolution or the mid-year budget.
He merely attempts to scapegoat a certain class of persons.
Granted the country does have a serious illegal immigration .What he did was downright cynical.
Like someone said on a local radio show,he reminds them of a next world leader.
