They should have never disbanded the revenue enhancement unit at inland revenue. They need to curtail recurrent expenditure. They need to sell or close some government corporations. They need to privatize some services provided by government. Example residential waste management.Have civil servants contribute to their pension .Have a very focused effort to collect real property tax.Johnson's appointment as FS should never have been done.
In the westminister system of government, cabinet ministers resign if they are opposed to a policy of their government. The late Carlton Francis did that over the question of casino gambling. These parliament secretaries are junior cabinet ministers.
Bahamians have to work to make things better in this country.Canada in contrast to the US under Trump is more open to emigrants.I know of a family who is moving to Canada.Quite a number pf bahamians are interested in moving there. The US is not the only option.
An electrical contractor said this on a talk show a while back. He had a conversation with a Florida based supplier. He said the Bahamas seem to be behind on energy conservation. The Bahamas is also at the bottom in the region in development of renewables.
i said from the very beginning the appointment of Marlon Johnson as acting Financial Secretary made no sense.Ask persons from a certain international organization their opinion of his performance so far.He does not have the expertise, knowledge or experience for that position.
A very simplistic view. This problem goes beyond the last five years. In fact, the hard and bitter choices go back to the days of the late Sir Lynden Pindling.
