“The licence that he has is for private,” Ms Miller said yesterday. “You know he flew a private airline, he wasn’t flying commercial, so he wanted to fly commercial also so I think it’s something else he needed in order to get certification for that because he couldn’t jump into that.”
This is the mentality we are up against...people do not understand the law, do what they please, and sadly, get away with it, because nothing is enforced...

You can't fix stupid...private license...private airline...
They run through most of the not so frequented airline runs...the smaller airports serviced more frequently by legitimate charter companies...and the hackers...
Our pirate nation mentality will never change...just another lawless mindset and lack of enforcement. people can get away with murder, as was this case. Still waiting for that epic Jitney bus crash to come with multiple fatalities...it's coming to a street near you. Sadly, for those that perished in the crash of this hacker, the insurance will likely NOT pay a dime.
Just remember...VAT rules are calculated on GROSS sales...not your profit or income...if you sell 10 cars, valued at $10,000 each, your gross revenue is 100K, you need to do VAT...even if your net profit may only be a few grand...
As with anything in this country, rules are there and the people who try to work within those rules are penalized because there is no enforcement or consequences for the people operating outside of the law. Charter 'hackers' and taxi 'hackers' plague the industries. I got out of charters ages ago and it was prevalent back then. It's no big secret, you know exactly who the people are on the airfield, but, give a few of the right people some favors, maybe some free flights, a 'gift' here or there, and they turn a blind eye. Just another sad story of how things are done in the Bahamas.
The Met Office needs to invest in new weather equipment...or clean out their filters in their rain gauges...2” of rain...had that in just over an hour on Wednesday night...try nearly a foot of rain in the east for the year. Basil is proving himself more and more of a bafoon with each new weather report/prediction.
