What Mr. Christie still fails to realize is the "We" in We March. He cannot ask to meet with Mr. Henfield, because the movement is not Mr. Henfield. He cannot meet with one or a few when the movement is all Bahamians. He must meet with US to discuss our crown land, our freedom of information, our fiscal responsibility. This paradigm shift has not yet clicked inside his calcified brain. I hope and pray that he someday realizes that his foe was never the FNM nor the DNA. His masters and his boss are the Bahamian people! It is the Bahamian people he has treated like garbage (stealing their hard earned VAT to make merry with) and it is with them that he should beg forgiveness.
Mr. Christie needs to meet with himself. He knows in his heart the foolishness he has done, unless he is completely stupid. He knows what he did with Baha Mar is a sin against the Bahamian public and that the public has the right to know about any concessions granted. He knows his Attorney General was completely conflicted and should never have been permitted to negotiate with the Chinese on behalf of the Bahamas. He knows that a Freedom of Information Act MUST be enacted to make the Bahamas a transparent and modern democracy. He knows that the Chinese should be nowhere near our fishing grounds and that BOB was robbed blind and the robbers should be prosecuted. He knows that every cent of VAT should be accounted for and that BAMSI should have had insurance. If he knows what he must do but choses not to do it of his own accord, he is a law breaker of his own morality and conscience. Why then meet with such a man that has chosen to play the ASS with himself, rather than get real and man up. Surely, meeting with him will not change a frog into a prince.
I say go for it. Heads on beds. Get that project started for crying out loud. Enough talk. At this point, I don't care who buys it, so long as it stops pulling this country down with its ugly shadow over Cable Beach. So tired of looking at an abandoned, ghost town Baha Mar.
In all honesty, this huge an amount of people in the march is a withdrwal of the mandate to lead. If the PM was in keeping with the Westminster System, he would immediately resign and call an election.
It seems to me the beginning of the end of this country came with the OECD black listing and subsequent compliance legislation. All of a sudden, the billions laundered through the Bahamas by mob cartels dried up. As a result of the loss of briefcases stuffed with cash, government officials turned on the Bahamas treasury and BOB for compensation, bankrupting the country in the process. That which they now steal from the public treasury, they used to launder from outside. When the great Bahamas laundromat closed, it was the beginning of the end for this country.
Mr. Rolle needs a vacation to the US or Europe to get his head around how first world countries are run. They don't have time for foolishness. A bunch of island thugs that open some coin machines does not interest multinational banks in the least. Get out from underneath your stone Mr. Rolle and see how the real world works.
I've been thinking about this a great deal. I like to think of myself as quite neutral with no party affiliation. The corruption we have in the Bahamas is intollerable for many reasons. It feels like a betrayal and is gut wrenching, because the island is so small. How could people so close to us be so wretched, undisciplened and outrageously evil. This PLP is vomit inducing in the amount and boldness of their coruption. They have even admitted to being corrupt in public forum, by stating they play favorites in granting contracts. What I have noted is that both Ingram and Perry appeared to be somewhat respectable in their first term of office, but in their second run, both of them unleashed the krachan by being abysmally corrupt. This tells me that term limits must be required, if we wish to stamp out corruption. After losing office once and regaining it, the hurt of the previous defeat manifests itself in all out greed and stuffing of pockets. We can no longer afford to allow hurt persons to govern us. Both Hubert and Perry were hurt when they lost; when they got back in they sought their revenge and wrecked havoc on the electorate, who they considered to have betrayed them previously.
I'm beginning to see a pattern in the corruption. It sees that it is agreed by Cabinet at the beginning of the term in office that each MP should pocket 5 to 10 million dollars at the end of the 5 year term. They then set up crazy schemes over the years (Bamsi, Baha Mar etc.) to deliver funds to each. The PM and VP would probably take home 20 to 40 million each. The corruption appears to be planned out and organized.
Shame on the Tribune! This news should have been plastered over the front page in large, bold text, instead of hisdden on the Business section. This news is beyond outrageous! It is a tragedy; a perversion of decency. I can't take much more. I need a self-help group for those living in corrupt countries. I need to vent. It's driving me crazy that I am living in a country like this. So, the PLP MPs and cronies steal BOB's money using fraudulent loans and then use the people's tax money to pay the bank back. What is more, the company that listed the offering was paid 500K for its services, which required little more than meeting with the Government and signing some papers. Shouldn't Leno's fees have been performance based? They weren't able to sell a single share to the public, and yet they received 500K. I actually have to work for my money! To think that my hard earned tax dollars go towards schemes like this, tears me up inside. What did we do to deserve this government? Is there no justice? Is there no way to punish them for their criminality. Will they just walk completely free with pockets stuffed with millions when they leave office? Help!!!
