Have you ever heard human beings talk such BS with a straight face? How can the FNM even try to defend this economic decision to buy a derelict hotel just after raising VAT. We don't need the PLP to tell us it's an economic black hole; that's like telling us the sky is blue. We all know it's one of the stupidest economic decisions made in the history of planet Earth.

The key is sovereignty. The Bahamas has completely lost its sovereignty with financial services. Unless and until it can regain its sovereignty, its brand is dirt in the international market. Financial services look for either small regimes with strong sovereignty or colonies attached to powerful countries, such as Cayman. The Bahamas is now piggy in the middle, and "luke warm" is never a strong selling point. Either the Bahams grows some balls or becomes a colony of the US or UK, or it can kiss financial services bye bye.

I spend like $100 a day easy. $300 on the weekend. Yep. I agree with your point. Don't even try to buy a decent property in NP, unless you have 400K.

The elephant in the room is Amazon! What do we do about it? It's just better than any store the Bahamas has to offer. 90% of technology I buy from Amazon. Clothes. Everything. Bahamian buying habits have shifted online to Amazon and Walmart, and nobody has the foggiest clue what to do about it.

BahamaPundit says...

Exactly. Why has nobody listed what has been offered in the days since it was released to the Press??? This is unbelievable! I have searched high and low for the offer on the internet.

I have begun to think professional fisherman are the worst people. You make your living from taking large numbers from the sea instead of farming it. The days of professional fisherman are numbered. Go get a real job and stop robbing the sea!

Go down to Fish Fri and lock up or fine severely any vendor with undersized conchs. Go to the docks and lock up or fine severely any boat captain with juvenile conchs. Start small. If we can't enforce the blatant infractions, how can we expect to police an entire industry shutdown. The public should not be receiving a bowl of two juvenile conchs when they order scorch conch at Fish Fri, as many are receiving now.

Since when did we require CEDAW to tell us right from wrong. Age of Jezebel anyone? Hillary Clinton finatics anyone? All men are trash anyone? I think I'll pass and continue to wear pants. Or maybe allow them their 15 minutes. Hmm. Decisions...

I think we should invest in some Dominican Republic consultants to get feed back on ways to handle the issue, unless we are completely fine with being ruled by Haitian leaders for the next hundred or so years.

Re TheMadHatter I am starting to get used to the Haitian threat. It no longer bothers me as much. Firstly, it is inevitable. The Haitian migration invasion is already complete. Some public schools are 90% Haitian and the maternity wards are full of Haitians giving birth to thousands of babies each year. Even if illegal immigration is completely halted, Haitians would still outnumber local Bahamians in 5 to 10 years time, if not already. The next step will be Haitians becoming organized and attempting to take over the government by majority rule. This won't happen completely for quite some time, but we will start to see evidence of it by next ellection. In the ellection after next, I anticipate seeing many Haitian MPs and maybe even a Haitian Prime Minister. Once Haitians control the government, things will get a bit dicier but still not hopeless. Haitians will rule much like black Bahamians: corruption and nepotism.
