***Seeing that, before their appointment, the closest most FNM cabinet ministers would have come to the first class world travel they are now enjoying would have been a weekend at Day’s Inn in Fort Lauderdale, there is perhaps some truth to the PM’s assertion that his government has “uplifted the poor’’**.*

This is probably one of the most accurate statements I have seen in a long time!!

I would also like to know the cost per dome. The amounts in the article are broad based and I believe also misleading.

I agree there are other issues effecting the low productivity in the present workforce..too many to mention. However, as far as education there are many high school students that are graduating and are functionally illiterate. These students are starting off disadvantaged. They struggle with basic math and reading skills. This cannot help but effect any economy when your number one resource in a country is struggling. The ripple effect is that the overall workforce will not be prepared to support a diverse and growing economy.

Mr. Myers concerns are spot on. There was a report released about five years ago that noted that of the then 5000 plus high school students graduating there was an expectation that only 13.8% were prepared for postsecondary and of that 13.8% something like 8% came from the private schools. I feel like the numbers have further declined.

This means most graduates are woefully unprepared to participate in a dynamic economy.

Another part of this crisis is brain drain. The country is losing at an alarming rate educated professionals of all ages. They are being absorbed into first world economies easily.

Sounding like the present FNM has disengaged the professional community..there seems to be a theme emerging that professionals that voted FNM last election are not planning to vote. I keep hearing the comment, "well at least Brave listens while Minnis just tries to destroy you..FNM or not." Many professionals have left the country; people are quite negative about Minnis and the bold arrogance of this administration.

I wonder if the FNM machinery will allow the same slate to run again....its like the FNM is handing the next election to the PLP.

It really is time for something different from the same FNM/PLP.....

I can't help but feel embarrassed for him...was it targeted that he decided to have his town meeting..sorry rally... in one of the more struggling communities. Was he actually taking advantage of their lack of exposure...and actually thought it would fly...how disingenuous.

Does he really think people will forget all the BPL unnecessary costs to the Bahamian taxpayers (corruption)..that he announced that Abaco/GB were 80% back to pre Dorian..and this was an example to the international community! When in fact there are still dead bodies in containers..no power..no water and little restoration in some of those places...high unemployment...is he stable...like seriously??

Allowing Shell NA to build the power plant as recommended by the fired Board members..senior staff and approved by Cabinet would have disallowed the corruption and kickbacks that have happened. Shell NA has been out of the picture since the former Board members were fired and Heastie and Rollins adjusted the MOU. Bannister and this present Board have just been dragging the people along down this rabbit hole. Besides the corruption you have leadership that is just dumb..totally out of their profession depth..you cannot make this stuff up! This is all treasonous in my opinion...so much damage is done that the negative impact on the GDP is irreversible. Like noted above the RRB and now coming to the public for a PPO..desperation..no plan and getting caught out!! Only a few have and will make money while the rest of us will pay higher rates and my guess still sweat it out next summer..paying for all the mistakes.

Empowering the people would reduce corruption and nepotism. It would not be tolerated. There seems to be a vested interest in keeping the people dumbed down.

Many stories of corruption and stealing are coming out of Abaco and GB from locals and the NGO's (local and foreign). Videos have been posted on Facebook. Mr. Goodfellow is highlighting what many on the ground trying to help are facing. It is just astonishing the government's arrogance....
