More and more democracy seems to be failing and it appears its being replaced by totalitarianism....systemic in corruption and victimization. For example.. the "new engines" at Clitfon. Protesting this is such a great accomplishment but the cost of the corruption behind the scenes is staggering. Same select few will have shares is certain companies..these companies will be awarded the contracts by the government.. funded by the IDB. While the select few win big the IDB loans will have to be paid back by the Bahamian people. Its all very predictable.
Is this the same "Boxer" that has secured contracts down at Clifton Pier? The same one that from what I hear brought Heastie to Minnis to run BPL? This will be interesting to see how this plays out.....my guess not much will come out of this...sadly.
Mr. Strachan is an excellent officer and deserves so much better than this. Sadly, most times you see this kind of treatment when the "powers in charge" are threatened by someone's ability and integrity. Bahamians see that Dames is failing. If he had any sense he would surround himself with persons like Strachan who could provide guidance. It really speaks to Dames level of insecurity and maybe even to Minnis. We are seeing this over and over again by this administration. Many high level professionals have had their careers destroyed (FNM's) because they refuse to bow to corruption.
By the amount projected to be raised in the 10 months I am guessing this is a penalty fee or interest payment on the loans to the foreign banks which is about half I believe of what they want to borrow...which my guess is the loans are in default. This additional amount further feeds into the egregious decision making to not allow Shell NA to handle all aspects of the plant planning/construction and generation. This would have allowed the legacy debt to be managed much more effectively at a lower interest rate..lower the amount to be borrowed significantly and ensure Bahamians have more effective power security. Corruption is a serious thing....
They seem to forget that there are many persons who are aware of what has happened at BPL since this crew came to power...and I am speaking about very disappointed FNM's....arrogance is a dangerous thing....
What a bunch of garbage!! He is right there playing gangster with the fishermen..I heard this bogus dive training program that he claims is fully subscribed so far is a failure...I heard not one student has gone out on the fishing boats...the only industry getting the damaged islands up and running after Dorian including GB.. and the government insists on using them for political posturing and diversion from issues like BPL. Every year same thing..harass those poor fishermen as a diversion tactic..they soon be in the news...it’s all so predictable..I hope they leave them alone as they are just trying to get their lives back to normal and feed their families after the hurricane! Get their communities up and running again as well as this country in general. Think he forgets fishing industry is one of the few industries that generate US dollars for the Bahamas which it desperately needs especially as it appears this BPL RRB will hit the US reserves.
The costs is BPL have yet to be realized on the GDP which will further add stress. How sad for the young people. Corruption is killing this country...no wonder there is such a brain drain..
