It really is sickening the nepotism and cronyism, Bahamians are tired of this from all politicians. Sadly sports in this country is just as bad or worse that regular politics. If they are serious about about investigating I hope they also loop in the BOC and some of these Federations to look at. There were athletes that had their accomplishments embellished by the Ministry, while other athletes seemed to be sabotaged. Why is that and who gained from that?

I agree. I would like to see these names as well. My guess is there is not 1500 persons but a much smaller group of beneficial owners. I mean wasn't Deltec just under the spotlight for Russians assets?( a few Paper Bahamians exited the country quick when the war began) What better way to move those funds than through a cryto exchange. Shady is correct.....

I am reserving any judgement until the Auditor General completes his review. The report is from an outside auditor that I hear put unrealistic reporting time frames in place and then noted documents unsubmitted. I am tired of the rhetoric that both political parties seem to stoop to.

The bigger issue I believe is the Government asked the NGOs to help during a very tough time in this country’s history. To mobilize very quickly under difficult circumstances. Offered no transparency on what would be the reporting requirements or support in helping the NGO’s get staff this in place to meet those requirements. The NGO’s should never have been put at risk of being given funds directly; Government really put these organizations in an unreasonable situation by not establishing out of the gates the required procurement strategies and reporting requirements. The Government is at fault for allowing tax payer funds to be distributed without tight reporting procedures in place. The local NGOs are not high end businesses with financial departments in place they are composed of volunteers. The process was flawed from the beginning. Think the Government needs to take responsibility as well in all of this.

It never ceases to amaze me just how stupid some of these policiticans are. To even open his mouth regarding makeup is just utter nonsense. Then to continue to throw tantrums and waste the people's money. Heastie was allowed to push this country into full on power insecurity, and the buck ends with Bannister and Minnis on this one. Problem is we the people allow them to get away with its. Its all talk and no ramifications for what they have created.

I hope Mrs. Osborne does get awarded. Totallay agree about Johnson. Unethical.
Will be interesting if this goes to court or even it all the submissions are made public.

Mr. Heastie was pushed out of Grand Bahamas Power, the Canadians got rid of him as well. He is woefully underqualified to handle the challenges of BPL and this was long overdue. In fact he has created a level of power insecurity this country has not seen before. Mr. Cambridge for sure cannot be any worse than whom he is replacing. I believe Mr. Pintard needs to be concerned on what may be discovered on how the people's business has been handled at BPL of Mr. Heastie and his team....

What I thought was unusual is the PM never referenced names of the NGO's, or that I heard. It was Holowesko that dropped the names. It would have been better for all NGO's for her to remain quiet maybe. I have a difficult time understanding how $2M of tax payer funds could be sitting in a personal account due to an accounting error...and this person's account does not normally hold that kind of funds. Despite returning the funds this has signs of kiting..which means was the interest also returned?
Minnis has a reputation of corruption and is disliked by PLP and FNMs so he needs to just stay quiet as well. He turned a blind eye to much was happening and it will be interesting to see what else arises? My guess BPL was another slush fund....
This whole thing is unfortunate as many of the NGO's did an amazing job under tough circumstances. The FNM Government should not have exposed NGO's to this and had better payment strategy and policy's in place to begin with.

There are very wealthy Russians that hold multiple passports including Bahamian, and have donated to both Bahamian political parties and hold ownership in local companies and own various properties. Can the papers please interview someone other than Mr. Bowe..sigh.

Bahamianbychoice says...

Isn't this very same MP that advised Bahamian women they should not marry foreigners...please whatever....this is the biggest mistake by the FNM...this man right here. He did not even move the needle to help Bahamians feed themselves when he had the chance, in fact made the situation worse. Now look were we are...

At the end of the day you are either pro women or you are not. He had the chance to weigh in on this issue and did not. Only reason he is even talking about this is because the PLP have decided to try and address.

Bahamianbychoice says...

I feel the FNM may in the wilderness for awhile. Pintard actively participated during Minnis time and sat quiet while those FNM's were victimized. So unsure how he will be able to rally the party as there is no level of trust. There is no way the international community will give him respect because of the tape with Toggy/Bobo. The FNM had him resign as Chairman over this...yet now he is leader? As well, the law he championed ( while under Minnis ) does not align with the constitution and is discriminatory against Bahamian women. Both will prove to be a challenge and haunt this country given the treaties the country is signed onto combined with the borrowing needs. What amazes me with all the intelligent professionals in this country...this is what we get for a leader of a major party...

*that are motivated by **naked political considerations**, that all too often result in disrespect of staff, disruption of the provision of public services to citizens, and the disenfranchisement of ***Bahamians who are diligently working to feed their families***

What a bunch of foolishness....isn't he the same politician that did not entertain all involved in the fishing industry and enacted a law that is discriminatory against Bahamian women. He surely did not consider those families and how they would feed their families when he put the breadwinners out of work. When the women asked for his assistance he dismissed them...
