At some point..when all settles...an official investigation at BPL needs to be done reviewing all these contracts..for example..for these new engines that cant seem to get working..yet cost the Bahamian taxpayers millions.

I totally agree. Heastie and Rollins must go! Everyone is tired of the stupid backdoor corrupt deals that have been happening. Everyone getting contracts.. including I hear some of these present Directors! You are correct they all now need to figure it out and keep the lights on!! Disgraceful!!

Bahamianbychoice says...

Agreed.

Thankyou for correcting. While I understand what you are saying I am not sure I can give him a pass. There has not been a big push for food security that I am aware of action wise. Most recently I know he lobbied for sailing to be a national sport with the different federations..and this was after the hurricane when I thought the main focus of any Minister of Agriculture would be addressing food security..not sailing..now here we are..potentially looking at a food shortage.

Maybe if Bannister had allowed Shell NA To proceed as planned the business would not be cashed strapped and could have cut the consumers some slack. The country would be in a completely different state when it comes to power security. The Board decided otherwise...so now figure it out. Don’t frighten and use scare tactics when the country is in crisis. Bannister chose to get ride of the previous board and stood by while many competent staff were forced out. He chose to continue with the likes of Heastie...Rollins and Moxey and board....so now figure it out! You all so smart figure out how to give relief to the owners of the company...the Bahamian people!! No excuses!!

So he is three years into his term and now just emphasizing food security now that we are in a crisis...Really!! Define short term!!! What is the plan!! Been too busy frustrating all the Bahamian fishermen I hear..very same industry that is pretty much the ONLY business generating US dollars for the country now that tourism has halted ..as well as keeping the out islands employed after the hurricane...all kinds of mouth and absolutely no sense..

Bahamianbychoice says...

His comments are incredibly irresponsible and he knows it. Very disappointed in him.

Isn't one of the newly minted "QC's" a sitting Board Member..note to self to avoid his legal advice..

Remember there is a law suit in place with one item challenging as to whether the present Board of Directors is actually ratified and has the authority to make decisions. This will be very impactful to a bond process which includes review/approval by the SEC amongst the already concerning events that have occurred with altering the original MOU with Shell NA.

My guess is they cannot get the financials signed off on. Who in their right mind would want now to be involved in this...as these Director's may be personally liable. You really think Bannister will protect them, man he will be the first to cast blame and throw them all under the bus.

I can't help but shake my head as the Guardian is running a story that has Moxey noting a delay with the bond due to the Coronavirus...all over the place with their public management on this....
