The most retarded articulation from the mouth of a chairman of a major corporation. That's just pure Nanny. We are operating on an out dating inefficient system costing people extraordinary amounts to keep their refridgerators running. That's like forcing people to drive school buses and dump trucks everyday and expecting there not to be a problem with the fuel bill. Electricity is too important to be in the hands of partisan fools, please get the business of providing electricity out of the hands of the government before we drive people further and further into adject poverty with these outrageous electric bills. The technology is already here, we are surrounded by wind, sun, water yet no serious moves have been made to provide cheaper more efficient energy for the people. Its like our leadership, same old antiquated individuals and their families f--king up the place for generations to come. They have developed a system to block or discredit any new blood or intellegent person from entering the circle of leadership including years of systematically promoting an enviroment that keeps mases of people ignorant.
What's so interesting is to see politicians of both parties take shots but under neither leadership has the problems of BEC been resolve, yet we are to get our blood boiling over 7.5% when u robbing us 300 + percent. Stop robbing us period. We must vote better candidates inn..Tired of seeing the same people saying b.s. and doing the same.
Vat stinks but the question regarding BEC is not just the ridiculous addition of Vat but why are we paying 3-4 times more the amount for electricity than other nations in the year 2014. We know the answer but at the rate the government moves holding our breath for a solution will end in financial death. We know that except for the top elite, people cannot afford to pay, very few people I know are current, our problem goes deep and it is my conclusion that vat may just be the straw that breaks the camels back. The country does not need a protest its needs a revolution to clean up the mess created by years of systematic mismanagement and corruption. The truth is with or without Vat living in the Bahamas will remain difficult for the average non wealthy Bahamian without major changes to the way we conduct ourselves and do business.
Jicandu, I have tons of solutions, but neither u nor I can fix ignorance. If u try to suggest change u r looked at with suspicion even with your own family. The politicians like it that way. I was very hopeful until i saw a bunch of morons marching in the streets on a hot sunny day in support of Nygard owning more Bahamian land for his own personal use. Our country has screwed up horribly with education, we both know educated intelligent people don't behave like colonial slaves. Unfortunately with 2 generations of ignorance that make up the majority of the voting block change would have to come from better educating the young people and hopefully provide a more intelligent group of individuals but we both know that's not going to happen in large enough numbers.
Both unions are missing the point, on all levels with exception of politicians who take bribery, salaries are off base with cost of living. If we want to live up to the standard of a 1st world nation and charge first world prices for housing, food, transportation, medical care etc, the average salaries in general are out of touch with reality. Unfortunately for us we have never been a ownership society where people are encouraged to be Entrepreneurs to escape these peasant wages. Instead we provide poor education to the masses, poor family planning and systematically keep people dumb and government dependent. We put financial hurdles in front of people with high start up cost and outrages fees, taxes and interest charges on borrowed money. In essence people are trapped fighting over government job scraps while the foreigners and a group of Bahamian families prosper. People need to tell the truth, and the truth is with the inflated cost of living in the Bahamas, the new proposed higher taxes and fees, social issues including crime, and the rapid pace which our leaders have sold us out to foreigners have all lead us to the path of 3rd class status in our own country. So their is no victory, just bullshit and stagnation. Yall keep fighting amongst each other for scraps, you'll still wake up poor.
Yes Sheeprunner12, that is correct but a loaf of bread is not $5-6 dollars and a jar of peanut butter is not almost $8.00. in those countries. Nor do they have to deal with the inflating cost of housing, even a broke down house in the ghetto in Nassau run u $50000 to buy. Don't even think about adding electric and other utilities. Now factor food and clothing for yourself and kids. $11500 equals poverty. Many have older family members retired from Government work and u end up having to make up the difference financially.
In the Bahamas this is still poverty wages with the high cost of living, good luck raising a family on that.. Wages are to far out of touch with cost. Cost must be addressed.
Does not matter @ this point, the country & its most valuable assets have been sold... For the average Bahamian paying off huge sums of debt to the world & trying to survive in a over priced, dangerous society, over ran by illegals & corruption is the reality no matter who gets elected.
The mention of queens or any Monark making appointments to political position in a sovereign nation is representative of a slave colony mentality that we still have. Then to pick a dinosaur from the past represents stagnation as Country. We are f--k-d.
