The thing is, Tourism and Hospitality are not "new" to Bimini. This island is, and has been for many years, one of the most popular Out Islands in The Bahamas.

Genting and Resorts World Bimini are the "new" part, and they are not doing a good job thus far.

Great to see the TRUTH being reported on, with the voices of Biminites finally being represented.

Resorts World Bimini could do great things for the island, but right now, they are doing more damage than good. Bimini Bay has a horrible history on the island, and the new owners are making the same mistakes over and over again.

Look at the reviews online, check out their status on TripAdvisor, Resorts World Bimini/Bimini Bay is one of the worst rated resorts on the island, and should be the last company here allowed to have so much influence.

It's great to see this issue finally getting the press it deserves.

Genting is a multi-billion dollar company, they do NOT need any additional help from the Government of The Bahamas to be successful. No matter what happens with this project, they will be ok.

The people of Bimini, however, are not so lucky. The Government should be heavily scrutinizing any and all plans put forth to make sure that Biminites are involved, aware, and approving of what's going on on THEIR island.

Right now, this is one of the worst cases of 'backroom politics' that I've ever seen.

The regularity that you proclaim complete, total untruths about Bimini is shockingly disrespectful to the people that live here.

I can only assume you work for the developers, as their grasp on reality seems about as loose as yours.

Any one want to bet whether or not the Government responds to the 'Cacique Award winning' Sharklab's letter?

Seriously, how crowded and over-run does the PM want Bimini to get?

And when's the last time any one heard the Prime Minister praise any business on the island other than Resorts World Bimini? He acts like a paid employee of that resort, while ignoring every other businesses accomplishments.

Wonder if we'll see Obie or PM Christie publicly praising the Big Game Club, or any of the other successful businesses in Bimini, the way that they promote the most controversial development on the island?

BiminiHomeowner says...

Please stay in Miami. You are clueless when it comes to Bimini.

Bimini is one of the few Out Islands whose tourism industry has been growing in recent years (before Genting was involved).

I don't know how someone can have a computer, and still be so clueless about what's going on.

How can you be so wrong? Have you ever been to Bimini?

Ever heard of the Bimini Big Game Club, Bimini Sands Resort & Marina, SeaCrest Hotel, Bimini Blue Water Resort, Weech's, Brown's, Thirsty Turtle Yacht Club? Every heard of Bonefishing? Ever been to the Craft Centre? I could go on...

You literally have no idea what you're talking about.

What they've done in Bimini is exclude the people who live here in directing their own future, and hand the island over to the highest bidder.

Bimini Bay/Resorts World Bimini is one of the worst reviewed resorts on the island, they've unnecessarily destroyed huge areas of the island's environment, they're planning on destroying much more of the island, and they've generated an enormous amount of controversy over the years which has damaged Bimini's reputation.

But, they have a lot of money, and apparently that is all this government cares about. When's the last time Obie met with the management of the Big Game Club, SeaCrest, Blue Water, or Bimini Sands?
