Fantastic! Genting needs to realize that there are other sensible, and cost-saving options available to them. Bimini Bay has been at odds with this community for years, Genting should take charge and reverse that with sensible, respectful proposals.
It's not "environmentalists" that are opposed to the cruise ship dock, its everyone who loves the water and the beaches here in Bimini and doesn't think one resort should be able to damage these things that all the other businesses depend on an appreciate.
Genting should have been made to finish the upgrades to the Government dock in Alice Town, which Bimini Bay was supposed to do years ago but never did. Then figure out how big of a boat they can get into that dock (likely at least a 500+ passenger fast-ferry), and purchase 2-3 of these boats, rather than the one huge cruise ship.
Bimini's landscape would be kept in tact. All of this controversy would have been avoided. And they'd probably save millions of dollars.
I just totally disagree with the idea that people who care deeply about something should be criticized or discredited for not caring about everything at the same time.
One step at a time. This is a huge issue on Bimini right now, so it's being addressed by the people that live here and love the island. If you're worried about something else, then do something about it, I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate your efforts.

These crazy proposals being put forth by Bimini Bay and Genting are threatening numerous Bahamian owned businesses here in Bimini, as well as the hundreds of Biminites employed by them. To say this doesn't affect average Bahamians is flat out wrong.
Demand a smarter plan from the developers, from the investors, from Obie, from the rest of Parliament, from the BEST Commission, from the Prime Minister, and anyone else who is involved.
In a democracy, sometimes you have to push a little extra to make sure your representatives remember what their jobs are. The people in Bimini DON'T want this, that should make the developers and Government think a little harder about a new plan.

As of July, 2013, ZERO information has come out of Nassau regarding this.
The one resort that cares nothing for Bimini is the only one that this Government gives any attention to.
