On Bimini Bay developer in $106k 'fraud' stay

Hardly anything in this article is true!!

Why does the Tribune allow this nonsense to be published!?!

There are DAILY flights to Bimini from Ft Lauderdale and Nassau, and you do not need a YACHT to cross over from FL by boat. People come by boat all the time, some boats barely 20 ft long.

This ferry service will help people get over here, for sure, but there is no need to lie about the state of things in order to sell seats.

It would be nice if Mr Wilchcombe was trying to defend the natural beauty of Bimini, the island he is elected to represent, as well as over on Long Island.

He has allowed the foreign owned RAV Bahamas to run wild over here, destroying acres of pristine mangrove wetlands, which are also Bahamian treasures.

Great idea to have a business meeting at the only resort on Bimini that can't stay in business year-round.

A message left today on the Bimini Marine Protected Area Campaign Facebook page
( http://www.facebook.com/Bimini.Marine.P… ) states:

"I visited the boat show this past weekend in Fort Lauderdale. Bimini Bay was there setup with a tent and a TV with an Infomercial in the background. There main point was using every last bit of the north island for a golf course. I kid you not the graphic showed the Healing Hole as a water hazard. The people of Bimini Bay have no respect for this island what so ever."

The people of Bimini were told more than 4 years ago that the golf course would NOT be allowed! Now this developer is proposing one that is much larger than ever before!?!

Is anyone in Nassau sticking up for the people of Bimini??

Kudos to Mr Weber for bringing this to light.

Just because Bimini Bay doesn't have any business right now doesn't mean the other resorts don't.

The PLP government needs to realize that there is more than one resort on Bimini, and start standing up for all of the businesses here, not just one of them.

How about giving the casino a "Bimini look"?

Bimini Bay is trying to "transform" Bimini into South Florida. They are not making Bimini a "distinctive destination," they are making this island seem generic, with the same cliche amenities that every other "luxury" resort has.

They see this island as nothing but real estate to sell and profit off of, and the Bahamian press continues to run free advertising for them over and over.

They used to claim 200 jobs with the casino, then it was 160, now it's 130.

The Tribune needs to stop running ads for Bimini Bay, and start reporting on the realities of that resort. Biminites are not being represented by the press, or our elected officials in Nassau.

PM Christie is great at ignoring the success and wishes of every other resort and hotel on Bimini. When do you ever hear him praising the work and success of any other resort here, other than Bimini Bay?

Bimini Bay has created an enormous amount of scandal and controversy, and they are the one resort on the island who can't even stay open year-round. Huge resorts need huge numbers of guest to sustain them, otherwise they lose huge amounts of money. It is a highly flawed strategy, especially for small islands.

The Christie Administration is handing over this island to most controversial development in the Bahamas. It is a shame that all these decisions are being made for us by a greedy, foreign developer who sees this island as nothing but real estate.
