Whilst news of any new jobs is always welcome news, the government needs to help create opportunities in other sectors besides the construction & hospitality/hotel sectors. As recent history has shown us, these positions tend to be temporary & low paid, not to mention somewhat unskilled. For once it would be great to hear about new jobs in more skilled sectors such as IT, Engineering, Healthcare, Finance etc, but I suspect there isn't a large enough pool of skilled candidates for those areas.
If her husband and family are resident in the US, why was she on this boat? Something doesn't add up. unless her husband or family are illegal residents
But didn't the current constitution (or at least the citizenship part) come into effect in 1973 ? I understand how "his" could refer to both male & female back in the 1800's or early 1900's, but surely not in the 1970's. Sounds like I'm wrong on this, and since constitutional law is not my strong suit, I'll have to believe you & tribanon are more knowledgeable on this topic. .
Sorry, I don't buy that. Still doesn't explain the inconsistency. Then why not be consistent with either term? Why not also use "person" in place of "his", as in "....at the date of *said persons* birth.." Or if "his" really is gender neutral, why not also use it in both places ? Sorry, but I smell D- educated lawyers and proof readers here
*"Every **person** born in The Bahamas after 9th July 1973 shall be come a citizen of The Bahamas at the date of **his** birth if at that date either of his parents is a citizen of The Bahamas."*
That section in itself is contradictory or misleading. It starts by referencing to " every person" and then changes to "his", Doesn't this imply that females are not persons, or am I missing something here ?
That one looks like it has a very shallow draft, so it should be difficult even for them to run it aground, but...........? I'll keep my money in my wallet, thank you.
Not really comparing apples with apples, although the Obesity/CVD issues in The Bahamas is probably a much bigger concern than COVID.
Poor diet, obesity & CVD are in many instances down to personal lifestyle choices and certainly not transmissible to others, (unlike COVID), who live a more healthy lifestyle.
