This officer was totally out of order, and should be made to pay. Unfortunately, these younger officers take their cue from their Senior Officers who are often just as rude and brash as this Corporal appeared to be. I can assure you that nothing will happen to this officer, especially if Stephen Dean has anything to do with the investigation. This incident is an everyday experience by many of our young men. Fortunately, this time there was a cell phone recording.
***"....The group also claims the bathrooms often lack toilet tissue, hand soap, and hand towels."*** These people really got a lot of nerve. They won't pay their small amount of rent, but yet expect the government to provide all of the necessities. Only in the Bahamas!
Someone, somewhere, and at some time, must have convinced this disbarred and disgraced attorney that he is an accomplished journalist. His writings indicate that he is still so full of himself. So sad!
This article is very well written and true to the core. There is no doubt that the truth does hurt, and as more of the Minnis' style of governing is revealed, the more this truth hurts. I am certainly disappointed that Minnis sees no Conflict of Interest in renting space from one of his Cabinet members. I certainly hope that there is a viable alternative third party come next election.
Thank you, ThisIsOurs! While I might not have cared much for his politics, or his scorched earth style, there is no need to castigate the now deceased former chairman. I do believe that he loved this country just as much as I do. May God have mercy on his soul.
As a staunch FNM supporter, who usually find myself at odds with McAlpine and his views, I must this time around agree with the Dissident Four. A Cabinet Minister should not be entering into a lease agreement with the government in which he serves. I understand that there is an immediate need for a new post office venue, but I'm sure that Brent's Mall is not the only suitable property available. I also understand that Brent owns many buildings and companies, and can probably offer the government great bargain, and if there comes a time when this is so, then he must resign from his Cabinet position. Plain and simple!
Does everyone in Public Service in the Bahamas steal from the public coffers? I'm beginning to feel as though even Mr. Wilson was in on this computer deal.
McAlpine is obviously not a team player, and seems to be positioning himself for some other role on the political landscape (maybe forming his own political party). He should talk to Greg Moss about that. It is ok to disagree with one's own party, but it should be done in private. You should definitely not air any grievances in public and bring embarrassment to your leader.
