I simply cannot believe that any Bahamian can be so heartless and mean-spirited as many of the comments here seem to suggest. What seems to b lost in the rants and tirade here is that the girl's father is a Bahamian. She was not born to Haitian parents, but a Haitian mother and a Bahamian father. That is the point of the argument! Why can I not, as a Bahamian male, pass along automatic citizenship to my Bahamian daughter, whose mother happens to be non-Bahamian? All of the other ignorant rants simply serve to show the speed at which our beloved country is regressing into the past. Come on Bahamas, we are better than that>
Yes, Bahama Red. It was a feeble attempt by the previous government. By including it with other questions, surrounding different issues, our D-Average masses was totally confused, and hoodwinked by others with different agendas. What a disgrace!
While I couldn't care less about what Perry Christie does, I am really disappointed that Mr. Ingraham chose not to accept the honour. I also believe that Minnis' award is a little premature - maybe in another four years.
We really need to do something with our immigration laws to bring us inline with other progressive countries. I can never understand how it is possible that a child, born in the Bahamas to a Bahamian father, is not considered a Bahamian. This just simply makes no sense!
This Preacher Man needs to spend time attending to his flock and leave the political arena. He truly does not understand party politics, and is obviously not mindful of the fact that he was elected under the FNM banner. If he truly feels as though the party has left him then he should resign and become an independent, or join the PLP, especially since he has been a member of that party before. I simply believe that he is still bitter over not being given a Cabinet slot and then losing his chairmanship and the salaries and perks that accompanied that post. Obviously, he was not ready for Cabinet, as his actions has borne out. Mac should just go away and stay gone since it seems as though he has nothing to offer but poorly worded criticisms that are devoid of any basis in facts.
It is so amazing how Mr. Davis suddenly have all the answers to the Country's woes after finding himself in the Opposition. Where was he, and his bag of solutions, when he was the Deputy Prime Minister. Maybe wisdom cometh with defeat?
Cat Island does not need 2 airports. The airport in New Bight, because of its central location, should be upgraded, to accomodate more traffic, and service the entire island.
