There is nothing crazy about the honourable congresswoman. Just because she has the guts to stand up to a lying sycophant dictator wannabe, and call him out on many of his inhumane and crazy policy proposals, does not make her crazy but a heroine to her people. She could not be crazy to have been re-elected as many times as she has been, and to have served with distinction under several presidents. God bless Maxine Waters, and the Congressional Black Caucus for the work they do in keeping civil rights alive and well!
This warning from this ship's Captain is totally unnecessary, and out of order, other than to protect the Cruise Ship's parent company from the 1% chance that something may happen to one of their passengers while visiting Nassau.
Unfortunately, our Bahamian drivers do drive without consideration for others. Different road traffic rules and regulations should apply in the tourist areas and the tourists should be given the benefit of the doubt.
I have a problem with this; not because I don't believe that people should dress appropriately when conducting serious business in government buildings, but who gets to decide what is appropriate dress and what is not. As a whole we have lowered our moral standards to that espoused by our big neighbour to the north, and children are no longer influenced by their parents, teachers, and community leaders. We take our cues from the television sitcoms, and other shows that are beamed into our home. While I would never be caught in any government building improperly dressed to conduct business, I still don't feel too comfortable with Brent Symonette deciding what is appropriate, or inappropriate dress. I would not want my application, or business transaction, to be impacted by the interpretation of some biased government worker who is having a bad day.
Davis really needs to shut up and sit small. He seems to forget what a mess he left at public works. Although the Bahamian voters have proven to have a very short memory.
McAlpine should resign from the FNM and be an independent voice if he feels as though that is his calling. The recurring theme of the recent March was that Minnis has got to go. If McAlpine believes this he should "Man-Up" and say so. He cannot have it both ways. I see nothing noble about his act of defying the police in breaking through the barriers. He is suffering from a Napoleonic complex for which neither the PLP nor FNM party has the balm. The people do, and they will certainly vote him out in the next election.
Hopefully, this country will never re-elect the PLP again under its present leadership. Maybe when members of the old guard, like Davis and Hanna, move on and are replaced with younger visionaries with clean hands, they may stand a chance again. While I am too fond of this administration's mis-steps over the past 18 months, I still believe that they should be given the opportunity to complete this term before we judge them so harshly. There is no magic wand to instantly alleviate the sufferings of the masses. Maybe in the next 3 years, some of their policies will have taken root and begin to produce significant relief. So help us God!
People who are led by those without vision will ultimately perish. Each island only needs a single government-controlled airport. There are some States in the U.S,, like Delaware, that does not have an International Airport, and rely on neighboring airports for international lift. We could save a lot of money here by adopting a common-sense approach to prioritizing and coordinating a more centralized inter-island air travel.
