While I agree with your writings most of the time, SP, I beg to differ. If the Honourable member is an "independent Thinker", then he should have run for Parliament as an Independent, and see how far that would have gotten him. Of course, we all know that he would never have been elected. However, it seems a bit ungrateful to ride the backs of the FNM to power and then publicly criticize them for all their seemingly "faults". Of course he can offer constructive criticisms to his party and its leaders, but to only do so whenever a microphone is placed before him is not wise.
I have concluded that the quality of journalism has sunk to an all-time low. It seems as though we have a bunch of lazy reporters/journalists, including the writer of this article who is billed as the Tribune's Chief Reporter. Where is the quality of investigative writing? Who really cares what Fred Mitchell says, and why is that newsworthy? As long as the PLP allow Fred Mitchell and Bradley Roberts to be their "go-to" persons for news, they will never see the seats of government again.
Thank you, Mr Smith. You have laid out a very thought-provoking argument that must cause each of us to do some serious soul searching. While we cannot afford to open up the borders and allow all Haitian sloops to just sail on in, we do need to check our attitudes as to how we treat all people in general. How hypocritical to smile for the tourists' dollars yet thumb our noses athe Haitian community who do our menial tasks?
As a former Minister of Works, and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Davis knows only too well how the PLP oversaw the distribution of funds, and the narrow-mindedness and pettiness that accompanied those distributions. While one contractor was being awarded millions in storm clean-up and re-construction, many who were perceived to be FNM got nothing. All I received from Mr. Davis for five years, was promises. It was painful to sit idly by and watch the PLP do this to Bahamian workers.
John, thanks for sharing this important bit of history with your fellow bloggers. I still don't see a connection between what Sir Milo and Midge did and what Glenys just did. Please enlighten me.

Call me insensitive, but I just couldn't care less. Legislation should be enacted to ensure that all of the political class be forced to go to PMH.

It's about time the Honourable Member keeps his trap shut. First good move he's made since being elected.
