I must concede that the Minister of Tourism, while contributing to the Budget debate, showed a deeply concerning disregard for the complete facts, and was attempting to impress the other cabinet members and the Prime Minister. It is beginning to appear that he might not have been the right choice for the cabinet position. At the very least, he owes Mr. Poitier, Mr. McKinney, and the NAD Board a publicly apology. I doubt we'll ever see that.
I am still amazed at the petty ignorance that continue to keep the Bahamas in Third World status. If the Bahamas is going to be a recognized player on the international stage, then our leaders will have to participate, and make their presence known at these conferences. It is certainly an honor, and Bahamians ought to be proud that one of their own is giving a major address at such an event.
Congratulations to Mr. Bannister. I support his decision not to respond to negative rumours and sick innuendoes. If he starts off by answering every silly question put to him, he will going down that road for the remainder of his term in office. He has always been a man of integrity. I am sure that if his health becomes a concern and impacts his ability to serve, he will do the right thing. Let's end the silly season and get to work Bahamas!
There is a great difference between Ingraham's and Christie's legacy. While they both led their party to defeat, and their subsequent resignation as leader, Ingraham was able to hold on to parliament seat. Christie lost his. Also, Ingraham left office under no stench of corruption or financial malfeasance among his cabinet colleagues. I assume this why many Bahamians rewarded some of them with re-election. we can go on and list Ingraham's accomplishments while in office. Christie's will pale in comparison.
Birdie, nothing in the above article suggests that Dame Sawyer is OK with exposed breasts on passport photos. She was referring to Voter Registration photos. Your "D" grade average is showing.
Rodney Moncur is a bumbling idiot whose appointment to the Senate speaks nothing of his accomplishments and suitability, but volumes about LBT's inabilities as a leader. By this selection she is pandering to that uneducated, uninformed, and clueless base of disenchanted PLP deplorables.
Is it just me? Is anyone else really embarrassed that this is what our country's political system has devolved into? I always though that the brightest and best of our country's sons and daughters were sought after for appointment to the Senate. Is Rodney Moncur reflective of the best appointment LBT could have made, irrespective of his views on women's equality issues, or marital rape? I'm sorry, I cannot bring myself to mouth the words "Senator Moncur". Christie, Davis, Maynard and gang must be laughing at the LBT Show, and can't wait to ring the Election Bell. What a disgrace to the Upper House! Thanks Loretta.
I am willing to support a broad coalition in opposition to the PLP, with neither Bran, LBT, or Minnis at the Helm. I am certain that there much be a proven, charismatic leader out there who could unite the forces and inspire the electorate.
I am simply appalled that Mr. Lightbourn, for whom I have always had the utmost respect, would think it is ok to say something so stupid. I hope after the next election we never hear from him again. Of course his racism is now on full display. Educating young women, and men, is the answer Mr. Lightbourn.
Amen!!!!! I second that. No one suggested that the power was turned off because of economic struggles. ACP Dean said the house was experiencing "technical issues".
