Wow. Oh the stupidity. Clearly this fraudulent legislation is designed to ensure no loss of corporate profits.
By sheer volume/ mass, these items being considered for bans, are a minuscule part of the problem.
What a dog and pony show! What about plastic food containers, pop and juice bottles, oil bottles, shampoo bottles , soaps lotions , etc. We can go on forever about the real single use plastic problem. How about 5 gallon pales.
If there is any real genuine environmental problems or concerns in the world; we could not possibly know it based on the actions of any government. There is not one government in this world taking any kind of meaningful action.
If climate change is caused by man, where are the bans on private jets, yachts, jet skis, boats, gas guzzling vehicles, burning yard waste, burning debris from land clearing, making charcoal, made for the dump manufactured goods etc etc
Clearly no government is really concerned about any environmental issues. How and why should we believe in climate change, or environmental problems when all actions a jokey?
One plastic coke bottle weighs more that 20 plastic grocery bags, which do you think we consume more of?
But balloons, seriously, could the rulers make themselves look and sound any more stupid?
These idiots are elected yes, but when we elected them, we did not know, nor expect them to enact these kinds of idiotic legislation. We as a society must figure out how to rein in these morons to stop their foolishness before it happens.
When we switched from paper bags to plastic we were told it would save trees, but the real reason was plastic bags etc were cheaper and therefore better for corporate profits. Now they want to switch away from some plastic, and the corporations will again profit.
This could not be any stupider. They must think we’re all brain dead to believe there BS
We should all by 25$ worth of balloons and release them downtown Nassau in protest.
Jackass politician! You know that spewing Bahamian prideful statements or nationalistic statements are not a defence of the total incompetence you are charged with.
Can a Bahamian only take criticism from Bahamians? What a farce, when someone has something to say about me, I don’t ask where yah all from, I think about what they say.
It’s essentially xenophobia and bordering on racism by diagilodingleberryidiot in his response.
When can we get rid of all these loser crooked dumbass politicians; they all to old and to out of touch, can’t do their job and refuse to step down.
This minimizing of skills required that puts Bahamians on a path to failure.
It’s state sponsored “ dunning Kruger effect”. Training someone to be a recreational diver and telling them they’re on par with commercial divers.
This is a complete waste of time and money.
If someone truly wants to be a commercial diver, the first step is to leave the Bahamas and go abroad to get some training, and then work abroad for about 10-15 years to become a seriously experienced diver. Then bring your skills home. If a 100 Bahamians do this, we won’t see any need for foreign commercial divers.
I agree 99%, the little I disagree with is the foreign investor part. And while we know they take profits away, the do spend a lot and that helps. The real shame is that local wealth refuses to commit to much in the free markets, ie hotels and high end development. They seem to wait until they can rig a gig backed by government and sometime monopoly status.
A reset is needed Government, and their police goon squad are just doing whatever the hell they want with impunity. Since the government won’t listen or act in accordance with the people’s views and needs; what’s going to happen? Will the masses march and physically remove the government?
Sooner or later something is gonna give, and It will be serious !
If you want improvement, you will first have to take stalk of where we are.
Then and only then can we choose a course of action.
I shouldn’t have done see “first world” as that is a term that can only refer to the more developed nations if miss used.
I believe that we are so determined to espouse pride that we cannot acknowledge much less attempt to address our issues.
But then again, we can’t overlook the fact that “ forces “ exist that prefer maintaining the status quo.
My apologies for my earlier insults and rant. I am extremely disturbed by the star of our nation. I believe we are well into a backslide, while we have never come close to our potential. There is a rude awaking coming if we don’t act. Lastly, I believe we would be better to over estimate the work required rather than cling to a defence of false and prideful hope.
Our workforce is not comparable to that found in other nations. They have no education. They had no family unit growing up. They have no role models They have no post secondary education They are lazy They are entitled They are mostly obese They have bad attitudes
Look around Everything in our nation runs at about half the standard of that in a first world nation Say it isn’t so?
Get a grip. Until you fools acknowledge the extent of the problem, there is no hope for improvement
You idiot. If you want to put a stop to Bahamian bashing, first we need an educated, honest , hardworking and respectable workforce!
Until such time, we will continue to be bashed, and rightfully so. Our society is a complete e disgrace, so get used to taking your lumps, because there ain’t no change in the works yet.
What are they doing tagging sharks and also talking conservation.
Jackass medaling in the sharks territory.
They are not guinea pigs for you to eff with. If u really want to help them, leave them alone, and stay away from them, don’t interact with them , don’t feed them, and don’t ruin their habitat
It’s just that simple.
So much damage is done in the “pursuit of science”, when they know better, and use the fuse of science as a justification to cary out their narcissistic driven mis adventure!
