Here's the good news: I'm on Eleuthera. Judging from the condition of the roads here, it seems that the PLP has given up any pretense of winning the election, as they have not even taken the routine step of filling the potholes just before a vote. Too busy filling their pockets in the final days, I'm guessing.
Flat-out bribery. In the US, Canada, Britain, or any nation with a viable legal system, this man would be facing at least 10 years in prison. But here, in the Bahamas ... business as usual.
Oh my gawd ... just when you think you've heard it all. Next: PLP will drop by, cook your dinner and take out your trash. We'll change yo' baby's diaper and fix dat flat tire on yo' car.
He has just sent a signal across the nation, "No need to pay your electric bill anymore." As if anybody in the upper echelons of the PLP actually pays their electric bill to begin with.
I am no PLP fan, but no politician can claim a "right to privacy" in evading taxes, duties, etc., that are a decade old. It is a form of theft, and we have a right to know who the thieves are, no matter what party.
I have imported hundreds of thousands of $$ worth of goods and vehicles over the years, I was never once allowed to remove them from the dock until the duty and fees were paid, in cash. But I'm not a connected politician, either.
He "forgot"? Bullshlt. Did he ever forget to collect a payment owed him? I doubt it. Thief. Pure and simple. Thief.
I did not say the boys are gang members. The police superintendent said nobody had reported them missing -- even after the bodies were found at 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning. And, Carifta trials do not go on all night.
Feel free to make all the excuses you like. Making cheap excuses for bad behaviour is one reason the Bahamas crime rate is so high.
... and you may continue to make excuses for parents who do not know where their young children are at night, or do not notice they are missing, or bother to inquire. Yes. That makes a lot of sense, indeed.

Is there no lie too bold for these people? No theft too daring?? I swear to God above, I am gonna sell my home here and move away. Far, far away.
