Cutting banana bunches in front of TV cameras and paying the farmer for the bananas and sugar cane to take back on the plane to Nassau does not really count as firsthand assessment. Standing at the edge of a flooded road but not getting in the back of a dump truck to ride to the other side to see what really happened in Grand Bahama also does not count as firsthand assessment. Speeding through the narrow street of Cat Island and stopping for photo ops with arms wrapped around old ladies do not count as firsthand assessment. I can go to a theatre to see a puppet performance. Shouldn't have to go to Cabinet to see one.
So what do you figure will or should be the penalty for stealing $60,000? I guess in PLP terms, all the crooks have to do is not show up to court and hope that the matter is swept under the carpet. Except, this is a U.S. company and unless this money is paid, plus legal expenses, they will end up on the U.S. watch list just like their DPM and will be arrested the moment they set foot on US soil.
Everybody have to get their political kickbacks from this PLP government; no matter how dumb the idea. How do taxi stands on Bay Street benefit the Bay Street stores? First, every available parking space will be filled with parked taxis rather than potential paying Bahamian customers. Then, storefronts will be hidden from street view by taxi vans and minibuses parked up, waiting on customers. Then, tourists will be constantly harassed by taxi drivers standing outside their taxis "ride to Cable Beach pretty lady?" "Going to Paradise Island, folks?"
Minister Melanie Griffin, how can you just give poor people a truck load of money and then say that they will be held accountable for how it is spent. Just what.... most poor people are poor because they can't manage the money they have. This is by far one of the most stupid ideas I have heard this government come up with. First we clearing overgrown yards of supporters and promising to rebuild them a brand new one and now when we're done we will throw a bag of money at them. I bet Urban Renewal will be given the overall responsibility of identifying and disbursing the money.
That grave was probably left open by this PLP Government after digging up some of these dead people they brought out the cemeteries and placed in government leadership posts.
I can't believe it - I actually agree with your comment. It is not only a great day that we agree, but even greater one that you actually had something sensible to say. HAHAHA!!!

All talk. I will celebrate when I see the action. For now, I will grab a bed, and not popcorn. Wake we up when our all-talk PM produces the action.
