What companies are doing is giving renewal one year contracts. Pay vacation and severance at the end of the contract and called it a day. The responsibility is now on the employee to save their severance. The logic is simple, pay it now or wait tell the company is struggling and can't pay.
Yes, I agree the US is a bigger violator of human rights when compared to the Bahamas but that still doesn't discount our poor record. It is an accepted norm for young men out of the ghetto when taking into custody to be beaten. There is a total lack of discretion on the part of our police. A group of young men left my job site on the way to the bank and was stop by the police. The police found a joint in the car and even though one of the young men owned up to the joint they held them all over the weekend until they were paraded before the courts. How do you tell these young men, the police is your friend.
This government has no shame! Wasn't it just last year when a government minister felt that it was proper to read someone else's private email in parliament.
Maybe "yo all" have not notice, what we have is not working. I support anything that is not the status quo. I remember telling a young lady after her son quit school in the 8th grade. He most likely will end up in jail or dead. The young man is dead.
There is a thing call personal responsibility. I grew up with all of the maladies mentioned above and today I am a contributing member of society. It burns down to simply knowing what is right and what is wrong and the decisions that follows. If we buy all the excuses above then it feeds the narrative that "it is not their fault".So we do away with the death penalty and then later prison sentences. Don't get me wrong, I believe a strong family unit, education and jobs help but personal responsibility trumps them all.
Perry beg "I don't care what you do after the elections but I need you to open". CCA responded "how about the Parliament". Perry shouted, "Parliament it is and tell you what I will throw in the Senate also".
Minnis tried the unity route and it failed miserably. To bring LBT back is absolutely foolish. My advice to Minnis is deal with them in the same manner that HAI would have dealt with them
Andrew Allen is absolutely wrong. I grew up around Haitians and hardly any of my childhood friends remind in the Bahamas today. The majority of them along with their parents now lives in the USA. My maid once she got her visa never returned. In fact, I got a call from a USA mortgage broker regarding one of my laid off workers, who I didn't even know left and he was in the process of getting a home. Another worker left in October. Their final objective is the USA.
It appears that some of you drank some of the same Kool Aid Perry got at the convention. During the last election more people oppose the PLP compared to those who supported them. Eight seats the PLP won by less than 100 votes. Consider the fact that another 10,000 youths have graduate and are without work. Even though, the majority of them are unemployable they cast the blame on the government. They are looking for a scapegoat.
