Minnis has every right to be distrustful of the Ingrahamites. It was just last month when they rebel and successfully strip him of the title leader of the opposition. Phenton Neymour didn't utter a word. He could have shown his loyalty by condemning the move. Silence shows consent.

Fred Mitchell has brilliantly plotted his rise in the PLP right down to convincing Perry to gave him the Department of Immigration. Fred Mitchell knows that tough rhetoric on immigration will endear him to the populace. Alas, I thought his fanatic desire to be PM would have compel him into an arrange marriage but he doesn't seem prepared to make that sacrifice. He is betting that the seem way Jamaica overlook PJ Patterson singleness, Bahamians would also give him a pass.

Like I said previously when quite a few pundits were singing her praises, the move was ill-conceived. All she had to do was wait. If the FNM lost she most likely emerge as leader. If the FNM won base on her forecast, Hubert Minnis would be disastrous for the country giving her the opportunity to again challenge for the leadership. Staying putt was a win win for her.

The solution to the problem.

25 % reduction in the public service - 350,000,000 annually. Sell remaining shares in BTC - $300,000,000 (premium for the government not been involve). Sell BEC - $500,000,000(The reason why BEC is not profitable is because they are not allowed to operate like a real business). Freedom of Information Act $200,000,000 ( Openness has a financial impact). Provide the Chinese with a 100 year lease in part of Andros mirroring the one the Chinese gave to to the British in the form of Hong Kong. Permanent residence or even citizenship for those with doctorates, engineering, Ivy League graduates etc(offset the brain drain).

There is quite a bit more ideas I can suggest but those would suffice for now.

At least the FNM had an excuse. They were building roads.

LBT has totally exonerated Hubert Minnis and the FNM voting delegates. I could fully understand why they choose Hubert Minnis over her. Hubert Minnis has done nothing for me to judge whether he would make a good leader or a bad one. With this one appointment LBT has spoken to me and the nation loud and clear.

The Government finances are a reflection of the citizenry personal finances. If the average Bahamian held financial management in high regards so would the government. If S&P had a rating for individual financing 90% of the populace would be labelled as junk.

DEDDIE says...

Strange move indeed. If someone like Hubert Ingraham made such a move I would most likely give him the benefit of the doubt. LBT on the other hand is in the process of trying to establish legitimacy. I don't see how this appointment aids her in the mind of right thinking voters. Maybe right thinking voters are not her target with this appointment.
