If you ever wonder if you can support a military coup if it was to ever happen in the Bahamas. There you go. Coup have those oppose and those who support. You are basically saying the hell with the process as long as it gratifies those you support.
You have to be delusional to believe that Bahamians gave a damn about who the FNM Chairman is or his past. It's obvious that you have an ax to grind with Mr. Collie. Dr. Minnis didn't chose Mr. Collie. The council and delegates voted him in as chairman.
Say what you want but Fidel was a hero to the average Cuban. His hand print is all over Latin America and many leaders drew inspiration from his courage. Even Nelson Mandela spoke highly of him. What the average Westerner is not aware off is that Cuba aided Angola in the 70's and 80's when Apartheid South Africa send troops to fight against Angola. Cuba send 25,000 men to fight and they were successful against the American backed South African troops. Read and don't simply buy into the CIA propaganda. I stop buying into it when they try to convince the world that an ex-Catholic priest turn president of Haiti (Aristide) was a drug dealer.
His statement is an indictment on our system if they can produce a passport in four weeks and I am still waiting on my Bahamian passport going now on five months.
What you don't understand is that the Air Traffic Controller do not come into contact with sterile passengers. They don't come into contact with sterile planes, so please tell what the purpose of a search.
It's not difficult to get gaming moneys into the "so call legitimate banks". They accept gaming moneys practically every day. All the gaming bosses have to do is open accounts in their own names and pay themselves a high salary. Another way is to open laundromats, invest in fishing boats and say you sell fish, the list goes on and on. More illegitimate moneys goes through Canada in a day than what the Bahamas would see in a decade. Canada's GDP is 1.5 trillion dollars and the Bahamas is 11 billion. So even if 1% of the Canadian economy is illegitimate, it is still more than our entire GDP. Statistics in Canada shows that the underground economy is 42 billion dollars.
Where ever you have the word union substitute the word "grouping of workers".It's easy to criticize a "union"when in your own mind it is distinct from the workers.Your solution to the problem is a clear indication of your ignorance of what it takes to be an Air Traffic Controller. The government came up with a solution several years ago to train Defense Force Officers as temporary Air Traffic Controllers. Out of the twenty officer they brought in after three years only two pass. Apply those seem odds to your past profession (teacher) and current profession (lawyer).... I will go no further... I think you got my point.
The government did take the Defence Force route a couple of decades ago. I think that out of 20 officers, 2 passed and it took them 3 years. The job appears to be far more difficult than it looks. Everyone brags about what Ronald Reagan did but no one mention the increase in near misses due to Controller fatigue. The salary increase that Reagan bark about was paid to new controller in order to increase recruiting. Today, Controllers as a group in the US are the highest paid Federal Employees because of the actions taking by those before them.

The move was absolutely idiotic. You don't break rank when war is imminent. Unless of cause your intent is to destroy the FNM.
