what are government requirements? what is the policy and projected cost to clean up? is it on par with say the valdez? what about compensation to third parties whose livelihoood is affected. just some fair questions to ask i think.
demand rose after the high number of major hurricanes in our region last year. the demand increase was precipitated by Dorian and then compounded by the major landfalls in Louisiana, honduras, etc.
Anyone involved in the loans & Mortgage business, insurance, real estate agents and sellers, contractors, landlords, and of course the Bahamas Government will benefit. It is about time to change the archaic way of doing business in the Bahamas. we still stuck in the 1800s. those who have survived on screwing paul to pay peter will suffer greatly though. I guess I don't really care about those who live above their means and live a deceitful life.
If the Bahamas was a true democracy, the people would have been given the opportunity to decide on whether they wanted to see oil drilling in this country. But alas, it is not. It does perplex me that decisions this big, this important are made by essentially a small group of oligarchy without regard to the wishes of the wider population of the Bahamas who are affected by it. I'm still waiting to hear if the taxes are going to be 1% or 50%. I personally would push for the 50%.
