what a whiny response to an attempt to improve the countries status quo. As someone who has been affected by the B$@*(&!t no insurance crap i fully support this move. if you can't afford insurance GTFO the road or face serious consequences. Next can we deal with the slap on the writst for boat teives get for stealing a half million dollar boat?
the amenesty is a joke and reinforces the idea that the bahamas is a joke. Instead the penalties for not stamping and recording should be increased. In fact I think the law needs to be strengthened against attorneys who delay and then put the unnecessary cost on the innocent client.
I might suggest that if the land tenure and registration in the Bahamas had been addressed like we all wanted, maybe this kind of thing wouldn't happen. You know a proper land registry so peope don't get screwed when that shady lawyer sells the same peice of land several times over and the govt just shrugs and says oh well? How about that property with multilple tax bills issued to different people and the gov't shrugs and says oh well again. make the bed you sleep in.
ah the jokes. Do you know how many dead spots there are in the islands or how often there is simply no wireless service available. Picture this you just found all your groceries and are heading to cashier too pay and what's this? no service on the phone? Well how am I supposed to pay for these groceries... Central Bank needs to get to grips with reality.
Lets maybe start with eliminating the extreme tax rate that a Bahamian must pay to buy a piece or real estate back from a foreigner? lets stick to the easy stuff. Then when there are multiple (not just 2 crappy options) for mobile connectivity then we can revisit this idea of a wallet in your phone.
The other day I was in 2 different establishments in the Bahamas and had no service, one was an international airport. So don't try to pay for your flight with a phone wallet. LOL :P
RGD.com is not functioning again. it uses tech from around 2002 so I really dont understand the problems unless there is something going on behind the scenes maybe some sort of power struggle within the gov't or someone is covering something up? Why are all crown leases and grants not fully publically disclosed if there is nothing to hide? Do we the people and tax payers not deserve to know the rate/cost at which Royal Caribbean gets some of the most valuable land in the country? oh right, nevermind.
Why does it take 5 years for a case to get to court? That is the real question. if not we would not need this ankle thing. No really, why 5 years? can we not get the BS corporate white collar stuff out of the courts so they can deal with real crimes? oh, right, nevermind.
