Fully agreed, and the fact that BPL lies. They said no load shedding this year, then 3 weeks back said they were renting generators and then the issues would be over once installed within a week or two. now 3 weeks later still load shedding. They either are clueless or lying.
Does it matter how many shark attacks there have been in the US? The basis of this article is that the family are saying there was no first aid, not help when it was needed. If true this needs to be changed. All tour operates should be mandated to have a trained first aider, and should have an adequate supply of first aid equipment. They should also have trained life guards especially the larger ones.
Wouldn't good infrastructure be one of those initiatives that would benefit every day Bahamians and get them into business? Or they just meant to be in business in the bush with now power, roads etc etc.
Its really just a way for the UK to make sure their companies get the jobs. Every country does it. When China gave the loan for the airport highway it was on the provision that their countries companies got the work.
Well the way we are doing it now has worked so well for all of us. I mean the roads have potholes and flood all the time, the airports on the Family islands are basic structures not fit for use and In Nassau you can't go a day without a power cut. But hey thats all good. The deal mentioned above was a good deal, with the loan bearing interest as low as 0.93%, which even if doubled would be 2-5% less then the normal rates Government pays. Over $750 million with a 2% difference is $15 million a year saved. but no we wouldn't want that.
Hmm a company goes to Government with an offer that may benefit both groups and due to one of the shareholders we should not even look into it. I don't care who owns what and if its owned all by one person, if the power would just stay on, the roads and other infrastructure be good and all at a reasonable cost. I would much prefer that then having what we have now where i pay an extortionate amount and its not even on all the time or there are plenty potholes, or family island airports are just shacks. Anyway the above isn't going to happen so i will look forward to more decay for the next few years.
I agree our taxes need to be more progressive but Bran needs to think a bit more before he speaks. THere is no way a person making $5,000 a week is paying the same amount of tax as someone on $250 per week. Now yes they may be paying a smaller % of their wage in tax but it won't be the same.

They still investigating 4 C's. meanwhile 4 C's has reopened under a new name. Of course in our corrupt country there is nothing wrong with that.
