So due to a conflict of interest the Government should spend more money and rent elsewhere, no matter what the additional cost would be?. I take it that they should also state in the lease that the landlord is under no circumstances allowed to run for political office nor give finances to any party as this too would be a conflict of interest. There is no conflict if you recuse yourself from the decisions AND whoever does make the decision can show that it was the best of the choices available .

So let me get this straight. The Government should not rent from Brent even if the location he has is the better option because it seems wrong? This is silly thinking. When you compare Town Centre to the old City market, Town Centre wins hands down. It won't cost as much to convert (the building is there and open), There is more parking, there are other stores in the location meaning the landlord has to keep the place clean for them as well as the post office. This is one of those decisions which actually makes sense (unlike that silly Gladstone road one).

Now there are plenty of other Government buildings that are rented which shouldn't be, but this is probably the quickest and cheapest option to sort out that post office

I think he said that Oban would be one of the projects that should not be approved in GB. But yes i do agree with him on his points.

At a guess whenever the franchise is up for renewal they will not be getting it one way or the other.

Then why the Oban debacle and now what appears to be another debacle with Disney. Those are all the hall marks of a banana republic.

Whilst i am sure this is an issue, why are their no figures to go with this headline. How many babies are born a year in the Bahamas? of this amount how many are to non-Bahamians? Once this is known we can see the scale of the problem. I would guess they don't actually know as i just looked for birth details for Bahamas and was unable to find anything that seemed correct. Does anyone know?

The date wasn't in the report given to them to type up by the PLP. so they decided not to guess.

Umm when you are starting from the bottom its not harder to be better. Though i am not sure FNM is better and FNM is definitely not good at running the economy. If we had anyone semi good for the last 20 years we would be in a much better position.

Only way we will get a proper bus system is if someone can work out a way for those people who are making the money at the moment to continue to make the money they are. If that can't be done then they will have no incentive to change. After all there has been talk about changing the bus system for well over a decade, and since then nothing. Either those who are in power to make these decisions don't want to change it or they are too stupid to work out how to change it. To be honest whilst i feel it is the first i wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter.

Dawes says...

If the Government approves Disney (and it looks like this is a done deal), they must first ensure that at no point is less then 150 Bahamians (Bahamians not work permit holders) are employed as they said, in full time jobs. They should also then demand that these people are paid at 1.5-2 times the minimum wage as our minimum wage is not a living wage, this is so finally Bahamians benefit a bit more then we normally do when these companies come in. . Finally as Disney agreed the area would be open to all Bahamians whenever, this needs to be a part of the agreement, so if me and my friends want to go to the beach which happens to be on a day the ship is in, we are able to park our boats right on it, with no issues.
